What is this Najib Administration up to?

INTRIGUE ONE: TENTERA WATANIAH

Yesterday, Defence Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that a battalion of Tentera Wataniah will be filling up each of the 222 parliamentary constituencies in due time.

He was quoted as saying in Mingguan Malaysia that each platoon will comprise 300 members made up of various races, and the battalion is expected to consist of 600,000 recruits in five years' time.

As the Member of Parliament for Jelutong, I have not been consulted on this recruitment in my constituency and I would want to know the details fast. (I have conveyed my requests through a phone interview with Sin Chew Daily this morning.)

Is this Tentera Wataniah to complement RELA, which has since been infested with accusation of abuses of power? Or is this another way of fleecing more public money after Najib has done his with the riches of National Service training?

It is opaque for now, and we don't know if it has been or will be included in Koh Tsu Koon's KPIs for the ministers.

INTRIGUE TWO: 'UNGRATEFUL' CHINESE & INDIANS

In Kuasa penentu Melayu hilang jika terus berpecah published in Mingguan Malaysia yesterday, Deputy PM Muhyiddin Yassin accused the non-Malays for being non-grateful despite receiving riches via the Barisan Nasional.

This mantra of non-grateful non-Malays was echoed time and again in Mingguan and Utusan Malaysia in the last one week:

• Here, Kebijaksanaan kaum Cina berpolitik;
  
• Here, Undi minoriti, Kabinet dan Satu Malaysia;
  
• Here, Bahaya Melayu terus berpecah;
  
• Here, Kabinet Najib dan Kritikan;
  
• Here, Siapa sebenar bersalah?
  
• Here, Terjemahan 2 pilihan raya kecil;
  
• Here, Terpedaya lakonan pengundi;
  
• Here, Bukan Melayu undi Pembangkang.

Yesterday, only MCA's Ong Tee Keat could afford a feeble rebuttal carried only in the vernacular press, whilst Koh Tsu Koon is apparently still rejoicing in his backdoor listing, and Samy Vellu licking his wounds.
