The start of the end... ( 14 )
UPDATED VERSION. June 2010 is off. Exit may now be earlier.
Out-going Umno chief Ahmad Badawi announced a few things after the special party supreme council meeting this morning, that:
- the Umno general assembly, slated for December 16 - 20, has been postponed to March next year.
- the divisional level elections will begin as scheduled from Oct 9 to Nov 9.
- he will make a decision on whether he will defend the Umno presidency before Oct 9.
Significantly, Abdullah said the postponement is to facilitate an "early power transition" from him to his deputy Najib Abd Razak. Quote Singapore Straits Times:
'Since we have decided to speed up the transition, the original 2010 deadline is out of the question,' Mr Abdullah told a news conference after a meeting of the governing body of Umno.
Does that effectively mean the original June 2010 handover plan is off, and Abdullah is checkmated?
Or what transpired this morning is actually a face-saving way for Abdullah to avoid an embarrassing scramble for Umno leadership?
UPDATES: Chun Wai sees it as game over, Abdullah is finished.
If you recall, the original transition plan, which was announced in July, would have seen Najib take over from him by June 2010.
With the latest development, Malaysian Insider said it's game over for Abdullah, and put the blame squarely on his deputy and the Umno Supreme Council today.
"He was presented with little choice but to accept the exit plan," the anonymous commentator said.
The online media said it sensed bitter feeling among Abdullah's supporters that he had allowed himself to be outflanked by Najib and other supreme council members. Quote:
A day earlier, Najib told Abdullah that the party assembly and elections would be pushed back to June.
This morning, the two men met privately just before the Supreme Council meeting, and it became March.
Even though no words to the effect were uttered by the council, it is clear that they want Abdullah out sooner rather than later.
In giving a clearer depiction of the body language of the Umno duo, this Malaysiakini report is very thought-provoking -- Abdullah is apparently under tremendous pressure coming from his own self:
Both Abdullah and Najib were seen smiling throughout the nine-minute press conference, packed with about 100 journalists, but the intense pressures on the premier to quit left Abdullah fumbling for answers when questioned by journalists.
The prime minister had to seek help from Najib, who was sitting next to him, when asked on why the party polls had to be delayed to March next year.
“Err... memberi apa... apa perkataan tadi... laluan.. (Err... give what... what’s the word just now... way...),” he said, before turning to Najib, who whispered “to facilitate an early transition”.
Abdullah then looked up to the reporters and said: “This is to facilitate an early transition.”
Earlier at the press conference, when announcing that the Umno polls had been postponed to next March, he too sought confirmation from Najib on whether he got the correct month.
Investors and businessmen, brace yourselves for two more weeks of political uncertainty in Malaysia because Abdullah can't make up his mind -- to go or not to go now -- for now. So, wait for the flip-flop.
A banana republic and a laughing stock
BY THE WAY... Ku Li said the shows put up by the two Umno chieftains -- Abdullah and Najib -- are turning Malaysia into a banana republic and a laughing stock.
The 71-year-old Kelantanese prince called them "two grown men playing this endless children's game of 'yours and mine' with the most important responsibility in the land, oblivious of the law, oblivious to the damage they are doing to the nation".

So... it has to come down to this!!! Tun Abdul Razak did it to Tunku Abdul Rahman... Now the son Pak Jib is doing it to Pak Lah...
In fact, now is the best time for Pak Lah to do a "Gorbachev" and allow DSAI to "take over" and what better way than the next Parliament session (is is before 9th October???)... BUT Pak Lah will have to count on the Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin to allow the no-confidence vote to proceed.
Then, DSAI can come in to convince DYMM SPB Yang Dipertuan Agung (The King)that he commands the confidence of majority of the house...
THEN THE END OF DAYS WILL REALLY BE FULLY CONSUMATED !!!

I don't think Pak Lah will hand over to NJ, because by doing so it is no better than pushing his son-in-law KJ to the cliff waiting for NJ to blow him off. Probably that was why he needed 2 weeks to publicly announce his final decision. I think by now KJ is trembling and thinking what is the best way to buy more time so that he can find the exit to PKR or at least something lead him to Anwars bedroom's door.
Seriously don't you guys think KJ had done enough to make things in favor of Anwar, I mean right from the way he manipulated his father-in-law during the March election to having 3 persons including an innocent journalist to be detained under ISA. All these make people mad about the goverment and couldn't wait to see Anwar moves in to perdana. Thanks KJ. I am sure Anwar will take care of you when he got the power soon.
By the way to the retarded menteri who said arresting the innocent reporter is protecting her safety. Have you got a new job? I am sure NJ has something "really" interesting waiting for you after Raya. Good Luck Syed.

Still remember the first day you become PM? So many people support you.
Some even cried for you because of too touching, some even cannot stop their clapping hands.
Now, when you got problems. Can you see the difference?
I do not think that transition is the only solution.
You still can make changes, if you want.

Dear Jovis Low,
Could you please tell us what did PL do to deserve we continue clapping our hands ? Yes I was the one celebrating when he won the election in 2004 GE, because I really hate the previous tyrant Tun. I thought finally the dark ages of the boleh land is over. But how would I know he was an idiot? How could one possible believe that the tyrant elected an idiot to rule the boleh land. Could you?
Forget what was the first intension of the Tyrant to fool around with such an important tasks. The most important thing is did PL grasp the golden opportunity to eradicate corruptions and cronyism? Bare in mind he promised that.
What did PL do when the innocent reported was arrested by ISA under the instruction of the retarded menteri? Did he say a word or he was the one committed such an inexcusable and blatantly foolish acts? Could you explain to us why he allows his son-in-law to bark on the non-bumi? Most importantly can you tell us why a PM like him was remote controlled by a young and inexperience jerk? Would you do that if you are a boss of a company and you listen to a young chimpanzee's idea and subsequently causing the company to loose hell lot of money if you are not an idiot?
My dear Jovis, PL screwed himself up. He betrayed the nations because he failed to keep his promises which sounded so loud and so good. He betrayed the country because of his idiocy the economy of the country was completely stagnant since day one he took over. He deserved to be treated like that. In fact he shouldn't thankful for what he has now. He is over paid.

Dear PM,
Good day.
Don't listen to your existing advisors anymore, whoever they are, please.
They have fail you and embarrassed you again & again since the politic tsunami last March.
Now you've been cornered to give in and release the position latest by Mar 2009.
I don't know what gentleman deal you've been discussed, compromised and agreed with your MT team last friday. You may have discussed the conditions with them, openly or closely, to take good care of your "legacy" when you handover the power, I really don't know.
Just remember how you've default those conditions with DrM overtime when you took over the premiership in 2004. Maybe it isn't your fault to blame for on the cancelation of the "crook bridge" to Singapore etc. It may just out of your control during the progress to gain more support from UMNO.
This is politic - they will betray you sooner or later, waiting for the correct timing and it may start with KJ matters. (Remember how you've promoted Muyudin) In short, you're not in control anymore, obviously.
So, what can you do now? Do you really want to sit here and wait for the mercy from your MT friends?
You need to think of using unusual strategies for this special political situation such as - Advise the Yang di Pertuan Agong for a dissolution of Parliament for the holding of fresh general election, in which, can only be done by Prime Minister - you.
While this will end the political uncertainty in the country, you're given the people an opportunity to decide whether they want a the BN government or a new Pakatan Rakyat federal government.
If BN won implies that "the people still support your leadership" and your fellow MT will have no excuses to challenge you again.
If BN lose, you lose as well, but the good news is - you CHECKMATE those UMNO rivals whoever "requested" you to give way for the sake of "party solidarity". Think about it, what influences do they've when most of them have lost their MB-ship by then.
Best, you would be remembered in the history for this politic wisdom - you save the country by ended the political uncertainty, no matter you lose or win.
You might have another question - Will Najib and/or Muyidin volunteer to take up the BN leader for this re-election? They won't. Why? Because they don't want to be the person to blame for if BN lose more than 8-3-08. It would need a wise old man to do it - you. Just advice KJ not to contest and everything shall be fine - he's too young for high level politic game. Hey, you know what, perhaps it's the most scary move which your enemy in MT doesn't want you to activate - they know they gonna lose if there is another election before year end.
I don't know if your decision will hinge on the primary consideration of what is in the best interest for the nation OR your own best interest and that of your family. This maybe your last chance to keep your promises as per your 2004 campaign - Reform. Maybe this is your ultimate intention since you took over in 2004 - Reform BN?
You've 10 days to decide.
Hope you read this and think about the proposal.
Good luck.
