Bapak Racist
Who heads the Biro Tata Negara (BTN) in this country? He must be Malaysia's Bapak Racist.
Senior parliamentarian Lim Kit Siang received a letter from a parent whose daughter was subjected to "extremism and un-Malaysian prejudices and communal poison" that came in the form of indoctrination courses for JPA scholars bound for studies overseas. Quote:
As part of the course, which is mandatory before they are sent overseas, all non-Malays are segregated and given lectures on the history of the country and how the immigration of the Chinese and Indians had taken place. And finally how the Chinese and Indians were given citizenship. The Malays too had their own similar sessions.
The instructors blatantly told them that they should not question the rights and privileges of the Malays as the non-Malays should be thankful that they were given citizenship status and a place to stay on their soil. My daughter together with the other non-Malay students was shocked and went back to their dormitories depressed. And to the Malay students, the instructors told them to be aware of this fact and not to mix too freely with the non-Malays.
A Malay friend of my daughter came back crying to the dormitory saying that she could not take the racist position taken by the government authority.
Kit Siang is furious and, like the parent who complained, regards the BTN’s racist indoctrination course as "a great disservice to both Malay and non-Malay JPA scholars as well as to Malaysian nation-building, the Merdeka social contract, the Malaysia Agreement, Rukunegara, Vision 2020 and Bangsa Malaysia".
Quite a mouthful, especially after we have just celebrated doses of Ahmad Ismail and Merdeka 51.

Clicking on the BTN link in your posting pointed my browser to the BTN homepage.
And on the top centre of the page is this:
Y. Bhg. Dato' Shagul Hamid bin Abdullah
Ketua Pengarah Biro Tatanegara
Go to the page to see a photo of Dato' Shagul.
Clicking on the LATAR BELAKANG button reveals a ling page of glorious sounding objectives, goals, vision and all that lovely stuff.
Inclduiong this SLOGAN KUALITI:
“Bersama Mencipta Kegemilangan”
And information that since Oct 1981, the BTN has been placed directly under the Prime Minister's Dept.
If anyone fairminded person was to evaluate the performance of the BTN (using the letter published in Kit Siang's blog and other similar accounts available elsewhere on the Net), and the glorious sounding goals, objectives and such on the BTN website, what sort of result would the BTN obtain?
Excellant, good, pass, fail, or MAKES ONE PUKE?
Come Sept 16, may I humbly request the new Pakatan Federal government to put kicking the whole BTN management out on their sorry backsides?
And then please investigating if the misdeeds carried out during their regime warrants action under the Sedition Act.
Hopefully there will be charges filed against those who have for so long undermined the perpaduan of the nation. And had their salaries and perks paid for by the rakyat's money, no less.
Hopefully there will be jail time for some, and loss of pension for all those responsible.

Hi Jeff,
I am fresh graduate from USM, just graduated last month. What I want to share is that the BTN had similar
lectures that is compulsory for all final year undergrads to attend.
Similarly in the lectures we were told to be thankful for the "blessings" that we received and were asked to "protect" the peace and harmony that we enjoy now. The sinister part came when they started to bring in the political parties into the session. They showed the past election results for BN, DAP, PAS, PKR and so on. The speaker then rose the question, if DAP was sincere to be the ruling party of the country, wouldn't they contest in more than half of the total seats available?
Unbeknown to them that the Oppositions would one day unite and threaten to topple the entire corrupted government in the political tsunami.
And just my two cents of thought, the Higher Education Ministry had made it compulsory for all graduating students to answer online surveys that would track the personal details of all graduates. One detail i felt fishy is that we are required to declare which constituency are we registered to vote. Why would the Ministry need to know where do I vote? Well I may never know the answer. Hope someone is wise enough to enlighten us all..

What a load of crock coming from those 'indoctrination courses' for those poor students.
It is scary for those kids who have to go through that Big Brother kind of lectures. The fact that they are doing so is really insulting the intelligence of those kids to think whats right.

Go into Wikipedia and look up Malaysia National Service. In the Program for the Nation Building Module you will see this:
" Nation Building Module (Kenegaraan) - Classroom based. Nation's history, sovereignty and dignity, Malaysia and international affairs, Defence and National Security and Citizen's responsibility to the nation, and loyalty towards the current government, Barisan Nasional. The class are based on group based training (Latihan Dalam Kumpulan).
Now Billions of Tax payers money have been spent on idoctrinating our kids to be loyal to Barisan National Government. Not the Government. But the Barisan National Government. Now what happens if 916 happens? Still BN government? Or will this now change to PR government? Or will it be a complete scrapping of National Service altogether. After all I suppose only Rosmah will feel the hurt.
Isn't it about time that DAP and the PR government start making noise about this and sound off what the hell is anything to do with the BN doing within the National Service Government?
Can I using this stop my kid from going for this as obviously there must be something so wrong with this.
Will Lawyers and Politicians help!!?

Jeff and everyone...
Do you know that this nonsense is not all that new.
Every new doctor who is going to work in the government hospital must be sent to some "pre-course" in Johor Bharu and they preach of how we as chinese and indians should not question. This is the same as the article and Kit Siang and others should know that they're doing this to fresh Doctors who just graduated and about to begin this 1st year or so.
Its not new, my friend who happens to be an indian lady, said that they not knoy share but force you to acceptance of they could fail you, if you're hard ball.
I heard all phones are confiscated before it begins. We should send in a spy to record and play this in the parliment and you tube. This serves more purpose to get rid of the damned Barisan taik once and for all.
