Mr Transparency joins DAP

Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim has joined the DAP.

At the DAP national congress today, he and I -- alongside 8 others -- were co-opted into the party's NEC. Tunku was appointed the party’s vice-chairman while I was made the deputy secretary for political education.

Tunku Abdul Aziz is a former vice-chairman of Transparency International’s (TI) Board of Directors, and a former president of the Malaysian Chapter of TI.

I joked with him to join my rank at a public forum shortly after I became a DAP member on July 31 last year. He said, also jokingly, that he would never join politics but if he did, it would be DAP.

He submitted his membership form yesterday.

Abdul Aziz believes that for a Malay to join a pre-dominantly Chinese party would mark the death of race-based politics in the country.

"I am a Malay. Many would expect me to join Umno but no, I made up my mind and it is DAP that I choose and I see no future in race-based political parties," he stressed.

congrat, we need more open minded malays like Tunku Abdul Aziz, race based party is not right, and neither is religion based party. Race and Religion should not mix, it is a deadly combination.

Hope DAP can rope in more Malays like Tunku, Raja Petra? this would make DAP more acceptable by all Malaysians. A party that fights for all Malaysian regardless of race and religion.

If Chinese signs up with PKR and Malay signs up with DAP, then UMNO, MCA and MIC will have to close down because they will be the pariah parties in the country.

Only when there are enough genuine broadminded intellectuals serving the nation
There is still hope yet for the nation to prosper and grow to great heights
The reverse is unfortunately happening in some countries
and their peoples have to be on ration
While their undemocratic leaders are still free to throw around their weights
