Hang them idiots@MCMC

MCMC, the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission which was erected to propel Malaysia into the Internet Age but now run by idiots, should be hanged for stifling its own baby, the Internet.

By now, what Screenshots mentioned yesterday about RPK's Malaysia Today being blocked by TM Net has turned out to be something more sinister.

We know by now the reason for Malaysia Today being unaccessible to TMnet subscribers since Tuesday evening is actually a result of Internet censorship. Malaysia Today is inaccessible to Malaysia readers because the website is placed in what is known technically as 'DNS blackhole list'. [ SEE EVIDENCE HERE ]

The Star says all 21 Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the country have been ordered by the MCMC to block Malaysia Today.

For that, MCMC should be hanged for stifling Internet. The head honchos, who are not dissimilar to SUHAKAM who take orders from Putrajaya instead of acting as an independent Commission created through a Parliamentary Act -- had erred. The had invoked Section 263 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA1998) without reading it together with Section 3, nothing less.

Most importantly, the MCMC people are not our final judge to decide what is good and what is bad for Malaysians in the access to information. Malaysians who are online are mature enough to discern what's good and what's bad. It's only idiots -- yes, I D I O T S at MCMC -- and those who are not online who are fearful of Internet.

RPK can be penalised if he missteps any of the Malaysian laws. He knows that as he is now facing various police harassment over alleged seditions and civil suits from what he wrote about the Police Force and about the C4 murder of that Mongolian woman, just to quote a few.

But MCMC cannot prosecute RPK while these cases are being disposed by the Bench. By so doing, MCMC is sucking up to their paymasters at Putrajaya.

Therefore, I ask all Malaysian bloggers -- and editors from the mainstream media -- to stand up to this challenge, hang the MCMC in the international arena. Because of the S T U P I D I T Y at MCMC, Malaysia is now a banana republic.

UPDATES: Wong Chun Wai asks MCMC not to be silly. I say hang them all.

Just reminds me again that there are people arrogant, stupid or foolish enough not to see that abuses of power only serves to highlight their own shortcomings.

I do not think highly of RPK, but this action by the MCMC is untenable.

There are those who still refuse or try not to see what March 8th announced so starkly.

There are those who still refuse after Permatang Pauh.

But there is hope. Be it Sept 16th or after a short forced delay, the winds of change will blow.

Perhaps the MCMC CEO may well find himself looking for a job not long after that.

Together with those who directed him to act as he did.

Together with the hordes of such people infesting the present govt and its agencies.

And I say (in advance), "Good riddance!"

The nation and its people are better off without the likes of you.

Not just idiots but idiots without balls. Obviously they did not make this decision on their own but was instructed by someone whom they did not have the balls to say no to. And the MCMC is double idiot for not pointing out Section 3 to those that instructed them. They are so eager to bodek they cannot even think straight. Sheesh!! what clowns we have.

can they be sue for breach, Jeff?

can we take legal action against MCMC?

Woahhh... HANG is too serious lah Uncle Jeff... ;)

I wonder how can an Independent Commission actually have the rights to bypass Parliament and Federal Government to do such things... I'm surprised and deeply horrified by the fact that the parliament act actually gives MCMC such a powerful authority...

and the timing is so perfect that no way any MP can move an emergency motion in parliament... since Parliament is recessing... good job MCMC...

Hi Jeff,

It is not nice to call them IDIOTS although they are ermm... IDIOTS.

Childish is a better word i think :)

How about trying free external DNS service like OpenDNS, will this overcome the block?

Anyone free to try from Msia?

Jurisdiction reform? And we see yet another authority bypass the lawmaker! It is done by BN politikus that boost into government.

Ironically, we see a huge contrasty, where Pakatan Rakyat state government follow the law better compare to BN government. That lead to a painfully slow changes/reform of state government work in every Pakatan Rakyat state.

This is funny.

chun wai? in his blog, the words he used when hitting out as PAS for objecting to Avril's concert are:

1. Malaysia has become a laughing stock around the world

2. so long as the party's loonies don't disrupt the show

'silly' is just a very mild word .....

They are not idiots. They know exactly what they are trying to do, which is to control the media.

Well, if they're just putting the DNS entry into a blacklist, it is easily circumvented. Just use a different DNS server, like the one prescribed here.

I can think of another 5 letter word asides from IDIOT. It is MORON.

Indeed the bowing of MCMC towards the Powers That Be in Putrajaya are clearly rendering the commission useless; what is the point of being an independent commission in the first place?

Dear YB Jeff,

I share your frustrations & I am sure most Bloggers & citizens relying on the alternative media are upset - rightly so as they subscribe to the TMnet Internet provider.

Just guess who is the "Guilty" party in "Desperation" instructing his "Running Dogs" to carry out this childish "Charade".

The rayaat have not forgotten the last episode when the Internet speed was slowed down, etc until the "Bursa" had to be shutdown causing "Millions" to be lost in the stock trading during that period.

Bet you they were working on this tactic which should have been in place the last few days before the 26th August 2008 bye-elections...but the "Goons" failed miserably....

YM RPK sure beat them to it with his "MT Revelations" to inform ALL, in time for the 26th August 2008 P44 bye-election "Tsunami".

So they are now consoling themselves by "Bolting the doors...after the horses have bolted out !" - call that "Smart" ?

Your terminology describing them is very apt indeed.

They are constantly "Shifting" the goalpost to cover their arse, just like the DNA Bill !

With the Powers-that-be still in "Denial" & continuing their "Arrogance" inspite of the P44 bye-election "Tsunami"...well, they will learn it the "Hard" way.

"Devine Intervention" works "Wonders", so we just give them more rope to "Hang" themselves at every turn towards their Auto-Pilot "Self_Destruct" mode path "Destination" soon.

Have no fear as more "Incriminating revelations" will be forthcoming, to put the "Final" nail into the coffin of the BN administration by its "Enemies" from within their own ranks....Insha'Allah.

They had done the Siaful's swearing on the eve of the Permatang Pauh nomination. They did the blocking of Malaysia Today immediately after the Permatang Pauh by election.

To me, both were done by the same bunch of idiots "strategists"- advisers who must be panicking now. The more wrongs they do, the faster they will go into the history book of Malaysia. We will then have a truly New Malaysia indeed.

As I had been "advised" by my seven years old son, "Can not find the site, Daddy, Google la..".

What next then ? The panicking master strategists may get this idea and suggest to block Google. And if that still fails, block the access of entire Internet next.

It is not that MCMC who is stupid. It is those who made the decision to block the site, the real stupid. If I were the CEO who runs Malaysia, I will immediately fire this real stupid person and correct the stupid action which had damaged the reputation of Malaysia as a safe, secure and free international IT hub / data centre built over the years.

If not, the real CEO of Malaysia, aka the Rakyat will make the firing next.

i guess everyone from malaysia would have to make do with accessing through proxy sites.

for the benefit of all: just google for proxy sites.. :)

yeah niuku, lets see if they ban google.com....

cheapo cows with no brains.

Dear Jeff,

MCMC said that they blocked RPK's site because some articles that related to religion were posted to that site. Not because of articles that related to Najib.

And, MCMC said that they took that action without any order from the BN government. Means Abdullah also dunno...

It sounds funny... you know, maybe they will block yours next time, and just giving you a reason that you have posted something 'really really really' sensitive.

As you know, they are the BOSS in this country. RAKYAT also can become BOSS, but only during election.

To avoid this, we all expect 916.

Jeff, try your best to make 916 comes true. We all (maybe not all, but I believe majority of Malaysian~~) in Malaysia, will support that good action...!!

No political conspiracy, just 916, CHANGE FOR THE FUTURE...!!

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
