Arif Shah and Grandfather's George Town
Had Arif Shah Omar Shah had his way, George Town would have been renamed Bandar Datuk Abdullah Fahim.
Someone just confided in me that Arif Shah has once made the proposal despite his present political posturing as being a candidate who speaks Mandarin and understands Chinese populace.
I was told that Arif Shah's proposal to rename George Town was vehemently protested by Penangites, who are largely Chinese by population.
Did you know that Abdullah Fahim was actually, ahem, Tuan Guru Haji Abdullah Ibrahim Haji Abdullah, the grandfather of Umno president Abdullah Ahmad Badawi?
By the way, Malaysiakini Chinese edition has unearthed a string of fake university qualifications that Arif Shah used in his credentials given to The Star.
Ever heard of Edison University of Technology? Google.
Ever heard of Graber International? Google.
But Arif Shah has all been there and done that with his academic records. See report in Malaysiakini English version.

this is absurd, we should not change history, if the malays wanted to change 'Johor' to some chinese/indian name, i'll protest. We should not toy with history just for political gain.

Getting into a PhD program without a Masters is already difficult enough, one would require a very good first class for the basic degree with very strong recommendation from his/her professors. Even then most universities would want the candidate to got through one year of the Masters program before allowing the switch to PhD. But to do it with just a Diploma?? Ha! Ha! Ha! Now pull the other leg Dr Arif.

YB, i think the proper way to go is to get hold of some proof as to where this Arif guy has used his 'qualitfications' to deceive others of his learnered self. Then, once you have the proof, please make a polis and ACA Report. Such people are cheaters and is the quality of UMNO. Malaysians need to get rid of such cheaters once and for all. Arif should also be expunged from being an MP currently as he has won the seat by deceiving others that he is qualified.

Actually, I don't mind that we change the name Georgetown to Bandar Datuk Abdullah Fahim. There's so many Georgetowns all over the world, one less would not be missed. Seriously though, however. Abdullah Fahim was a great man, the first Penang Mufti after independence! I would like to remember him most for his contributions to the society. Unfortunately, his name is a bit tainted due to his son and his grandson.

Tell you what, let's kick-out his grandson out of office, then honour the grandfather as he deserves.
One more thing, did anyone aware that Abdullah Fahim was one of the original founder of Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS)?
