UPDATED VERSION. 'Death threat on Anwar'.

PKR vice president Dr Syed Husin Ali revealed an attempt on Anwar Ibrahim that is "not only to assassinate him politically, but if possible, to kill him physically". Quote:

"Anwar has got solid proof, documents, since his trial in 1998 against two important government officers, i.e. the attorney general and Inspector General of Police, had manipulated evidence against Anwar.

"He had the documents more than two weeks ago but didn't want to disclose them in view of so many things happening now. He didn't want to water down their importance," he added.

Diplomatic row?

Anwar Ibrahim is currently said holed up in the Turkish embassy for refuge. He is expected to remain there for an undetermined period.

This is Anwar's latest statement released at 5.30pm from the Turkish embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Will that lead to a diplomatic row with Turkey, the country noted for The Turkish Yacht?

Putting things in perspective, we will see that at some point in the near future. For now, the primary question is, like Kit says, to "assure and ensure" the former Deputy Prime Minister’s personal safety and security in his home country. And that is a constitutionally defined responsibility for the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to shoulder.

It is pertinent to put in context that both Malaysia and Turkey are members of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).

Earlier, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail revealed to the Press, using her Blackberry, the picture of a young man, said to be the person who lodged the sodomy report against Anwar, standing next to another young man outside what appears to be the office of a senior member of the Abdullah administration. "This is a second political conspiracy...and attempted murder," she announced.

We will reveal who this "senior member of the Abdullah administration" is supposed to be, later.

UPDATES: Rocky's Bru and Sultanmuzaffar have the pictures of the young man who walks the corridors of Putrajaya -- dropped out in February, got a tunang in May.

BY THE WAY... Early this morning, just hours after the news broke, current Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi felt it pertinent to reiterate that the Barisan Nasional Government was not behind the latest allegation of sodomy against Anwar. Quote:

"We are not (involved). Umno and Barisan Nasional did not plan to trouble, disturb or accuse him.

"I believe even my friends like (Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri) Najib (Tun Razak) did not have any intention to do such a thing to him," he told reporters [...]

So, who is Khairil Annas Jusoh mentioned in the blog that the young man was sighted commenting on... another Penangite?
