PAS to join Umno... 'Malay Unity'?

Political commentators Ong Kian Ming and Oon Yeoh, who have been running the hugely followed Realpolitik Podcast via Malaysiakini, today reported what they heard in the grapevine, that if there's any party that might leave Pakatan Rakyat at the eleventh hour, it would be PAS.

The duo said the key reason for PAS to leave PR is quote unquote: "to cooperate with Umno, no less, for the sake of ‘Malay unity’".

You have to read Malaysiakini to find out why that's the case. But Kian Ming and Oon did send an ultimatum to PAS to state their stand in full clarity. Quote:

...we feel there is good reason for PAS to state, in unequivocal terms, that it would never join Barisan Nasional – if not publicly, at the very least it should say so to its coalition partners. To our knowledge, it has yet to do that. Thus, the rumblings of concern that we've been hearing from the DAP and PKR side.

It's upsetting if the duo are correct with their take as seldom have they gone wrong in the past. It's a pity if the embryoic advocacy for Bangsa Malaysia exemplified via the GE2008 results -- Anwar Ibrahim calls it Ketuanan Rakyat -- is to give way to a neo-feudal monster skewed on race.

Nevertheless, I am confident there are many liberal-minded leaders within PAS who have seen their political struggle beyond the confines of 'ketuanan Melayu' in this land.

What say you, YB Nasharuddin and Y.Bhg. Mustapha?

If it happens, this country will be split down the centre along the tectonic racial line.

The members of the component parties like MCA, Gerakan and MIC will leave to join PR or canvass for their parties to join PR.

If this country divides along the racial line and then divides further along the religion line, there will be double trouble ahead for everyone, regardless what race, what religion.

There will be so much mistrust and cagey accommodation it won't be worth it to continue anything together. It'll spell the end of Malaysia.

Think about it. That's what everyone has been skirting around from saying directly.

While at it, debate with finality what exactly is meant by 'malay rights' in today's world? Be very specific. List them out. Give examples. Then poke out the realities.

yikes!! i against it!! sy bangkang!! what malay unity? hello for myself..i will introduce myself as muslim and Malaysian.

If pas joins BN, Sabah and sarawak may leave BN plus MCA and gerakan. Plus some PAS members may jump to be independents.

I will not be surprise...as PAS and UMNO ..both love to play race and religion dirty politics..to create fear and to control minds..weaken them..to succeed..all these 50 years.

Mahathir have said..he love his race...his religion and his party...more than anything else..as PM for 22 years. He never said ..he love the country and Malaysians....that's why he is in politics.

And Muslims can unite...when they feel their future and rights are threatened.

Mahathir is fanning on racial issues..right now.....besides..keep knocking on Dollah...with..this and that.

Fortunately......majority Muslims are educated and can think for themselves...and despise race and religion dirty politics.
Kelantan muslims keep saying.. how great Malaysians they are..teaching all of us...to follow their ways...saying Kelantan is so successfully manage by PAS.

Before election...it was "Welfare State"......only they know..what it means.

So you see...PAS can twist and turn like a snake too!!
Why be surprise...if they unite with UMNO.

But I sense....Malaysians do not want that out-dated politics anymore.....so any which way...it maybe...Malaysia will have strong oppositions.....and change the government completely....on the next election.

PAS can do anything it likes..no question about it? But to join up with a party or to work with a party like UMNO that has been screwing them up at the slightest opoortunity, and sworn enemies politically as seen in Kelantan and Trengganu, must surely be seen a the most stupid decision from PAS if it does happens.

Given the present situation led by Husam and the young turks, I pray that they will have the wisdom to work towards Malaysian unity..rather than Malay unity
