Desperate Housewives... ( 4 )

UPDATED VERSION. According to The Star, Chui Kah Peng, wife of former chief minister Dr Koh Tsu Koon, was quoted as saying that Persatuan Bunga Tanjung, the state organisation for wives of Barisan Nasional assemblyman and MPs which Chui chaired, has been dissolved and the remaining funds donated to charity organisations and Bakti.

Chui was further quoted as saying that RM350,000 were donated to Bakti while the remainder were given to the charity organisations.

She was reported to identify the organisations which received the money, totalling amounting to RM590,665, to include the Bureau of Learning Difficulties, Penang Cheshire Home, Penang Mental Health Association and Mount Miriam Hospital.

I just checked with the Mount Miriam Hospital, which specialises in cancer treatment, had yet to receive any amount greater than RM2,572.63, which was paid cash on April 1, 2008.

Meanwhile, sources close to the Cheshire Home and Penang Mental Health Association said the two charity organisationbs only received RM1,000 each.

What happened to the balance of RM590,665 purportedly "donated" to these charity organisations? Can Madam Chui clarify for the benefit of the Penang people?

For the benefit of the public, can other recipient organisations Chui mention please confirm if they had receive the money as reported in the media?

YB Jeff, I watched the 'chaotic' scene of big boys shouting this morning and thanks for 'blogging' from Parliament. I was trying to look out for you and Tony.
My only hope and wish is the new YBs from Pakatan Raakyat are not caught up with the BN Kiasus (they are still drinking milk and throwing tantrums).

Like the invited guest in RTM 1 said that the mannerisms of MPs are a concern. With new young YBs added on, it is hope the scene will changed. She did mention about the education level of YBs which is very important ... however I did notice the 'Hound dog' from Oxford very rude and fiery with finger pointing. Trying to fight for his SURVIVAL in Parliament.

Please please Pakatan Rakaayat MPs you can be ASSERTIVE in your point of view but don't be like BN babies throwing TANTRUMS. If you could sit back and watch and ignore 'bad comments'... see what happens? It will only reflect on the person who made that statement.
"It takes a bigger monkey or idiot to know another one?"

Look at YB Haji Awang, the manner he spoke so calm...
Fire leads to no where, it burns... Learn the Tai-chi move and ward off. U will still be standing upright because of your horse stand but the other person fall flat on the mud.
So if no one pay attention to unpleasant comments... the person who make the comments will have to retract it himself because whatever he said nobody hear it. Malu nya... by screaming back, the person has terima the 'stuphid' comment.

So why does Bukit Glugor wants to terima and waste his energy on a small worm?

I hope you all have seen how RPK spoke on RTM with all the facts at the finger tips and it automatically made the host look lost and he better think twice or prepare himself well if he wants to host Blog again... "so don't fight Yang Berhormats in Pakatan Raayat because you all are A Class Above above the BN Bayis s s s ... asking for milk...(mak nak susu..su..su..su)

Please tell Uncle Lim and especially Uncle Karpal...
Don't take in the NEGATIVE ENERGY and let the Pakatan Energy drain... You guys are there to "JUST Change for Malaysia... and we will rise and see the sun (no need to fight with words... action (get all of them to sing the DAP song that Tony composed before Parliament starts every morning)

We want more than 5 years of Pakatan Raayat.

Wish you all well and happy always.

Desperate housewives desperately gave Penang Mental Health and Cheshire Home RM1000-00 each...(kesian nya)...

That was a B E S A R, B E S A R nya donation to BAKTI RM350,000. I am still scratching my head after talking to my friend at Cheshire home what amount the home received? There are homes that I know off in Sebarang Jaya and BM poorly supported... yet Pg Desperate Housewives opted to join the rich rich housewives in Bakti... so they too know how to rub rub shouders...

Ooi:

Please check your facts before you make blind accusations!

A quick check with the CEO of Mt. Miriam Hospital revealed that the money has, indeed, been received.

An errorneous statement, especially published on a public forum such as this is not only damaging to innocent parties, but also highly embarrassing to you and the DAP.

I ask that you do the right thing by posting a public apology to Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng for this baseless allegation.

Please be more responsible in the future!

Please tell us the facts before you make blind bank transfers!

A quick check with the news published few days ago revealed that the money has, indeed, been transferred.

An hideous action, especially done on a charity fund such as this is not only damaging to innocent parties, but also highly embarrassing to BN and the Malaysians.

I ask that you do the right thing by posting a public apology to Malaysian taxpayers for this dirty $ withdrawals.

Please be more responsible in the future!

Hi Jeff,
It has been almost 2 months, DPA took over the state, 09-Mar-2008 was one of the happiest day of my life, as i can see the light in the tunnel now. We have hope, and we have a chance. For the past 2 months, the state government has dig out many uncovered news, which i think is good, you need to make sure everything is clean first prior working on it.

However, i think it is the time the state government to walk the talk. Instead of focusing on the left over shit, let's focus on how to improve the state, e.g. foreign investment, and cleanliness.

Personally feel that DAP short off professional people, we need economist, executive, businessman to help the state government. Too bad, we only have LGE, Jeff Ooi, and LCT, and now we have LKC. Penang need more helping hand.

Basically i just would like convey this important message to you .. 1) Penang people is observing, and 2) Is time to walk the talk.

Good luck. God Bless. Last but not least, Penang people need to change the mentality and attitude to survive in this competitive world.

According to Malaysiakini's news, PBT published a statement and explained that "....Article 5 of the constitution (PBT) states: ‘Ordinary Members are to be made up of wives of (state assemblypersons) and MPs of Penang, except for those from the opposition’.

This makes it clear that PBT was only meant for BN representatives’ wives..."

I have a couple of doubts here,

1) once the state government was dissolved to have the general election on March 8, who are the elected MPs? No one. Only after March 8 and official results were announced, then we have elected MPs. Am I understanding it right?

2) Once the election result was known, BN has fallen becomes opposition. By the Article 5, isn't that the previous members are no longer legitimate and not to even talk about having any right to decide on what can be done on the fund. Am I missing anything here?

Actually I have a third doubt,

3) why my tax money is being used to fund the activities organized by BN? If the BN MPs' wives would like to do charity, why can't they fund it from their own pocket? And should not even bother for any public fund raising since ultimately the activities will put up BIG words of Another project by BN. Come on lah, these are all our monies. Please don't show your generosity for charity by donating other's monies and not yours.

I am just as concerned as 'sn3545 concerned citizen'. I am also a Penangnite and has seen some homes especially in Penang mainland really need supported. If PBT has decided on the same path as Balkis why can't the society be open to let the public knows? why give to BAKTI when they are well supported at federal level and have RM millions?

I m still confused...and RM1000- each to the 2 charity mentioned confused us more when they are reaching out to so many poor children especially PMHA and the residents in Cheshire have to weave baskets and other handicrafts to earn a living. What is wrong with Pay-it Forward > the goodness done by PBT be transfered to PK.

Is there a need for apology to Puan Sri for what our YB is trying to find out so that Pg People will be smart when donating to charity? Sadly there will not be another PBT as they chosed to close shop and make the rich richer... The Pay-it-Forward was initiated by a child who went out to help 3 person and these 3 person helped another 3 person and the chain continues... See even a child knows the greatness in CHARITY as compared to adults. I am also a giver and I am blessed for what I have in life now...and I learn the Pay-it-Forward from a child.

Hi Jeff,

I just heard that the Desperate Housewives has called a press conference to loudly announce that they are not desperate and they are not housewives!

LOL. That is so funny!

350K to BAKTI... I thought BAKTI is rich enough to be donated... LOL

===========================

The CM's reply on Penang's local councilors was reported in Merdekareview just yesterday... I don't know... it doesn't look like the CM had given good reply... and more so... harming his own PR...

0 to 7 is a good move perhaps... but it's not like we should say... "Oh we should be thankful because we now got 7 out of 48 councilors coming from NGOs..."

I believe what people want is... to be able to know why and how exactly the government came to such decision... and YB Chow should have tell us in detail...

===========================

Oh and by the way... the deadline given to ex-DCM was 28th Apr... now what? LOL...~~

Quote The Star:

Meanwhile, PBT treasurer Khoo Siew Ling in a statement yesterday called on Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi to apologise to Chui for allegedly posting in his Screenshots blog yesterday that Mount Miriam Hospital had yet to receive any amount greater than the RM2,572.63 that was paid in cash on April 1.

“This allegation is not only baseless, but bordering on slander. We are able to produce an official receipt of the donation totalling RM2,572.63 for public view,” she said.

=========

Quote YB Ooi:

I just checked with the Mount Miriam Hospital, which specialises in cancer treatment, had yet to receive any amount greater than RM2,572.63, which was paid cash on April 1, 2008.

=============

Amount quoted: RM2,572.63.

YB Ooi said AMOUNT GREATER THAN RM2,572.63.

My question: In mathematics and english, what is any amount GREATER THAN RM2,572.63? Did YB Ooi err? I guess not!

But let's do some simple mathematics. Being a Joe Public, I'm keen to know where has all the money gone to...

RM350.000 to Bakti

RM590,665 given to charity organisations, of which,

RM2,572.63 to Mount Miriam Hospital

RM1,000 to Cheshire Home

RM1,000 to Penang Mental Health Association

TOTAL ACCOUNTED FOR: RM4,572.63

Therefore;

RM590,665 minus RM4,572.63 = RM586,092.37

Now, this is the amount that Joe Public like me wishes to be enlightened as to where the money has gone to.....

Hence, I figured it out that YB Ooi could be guessing and supposing that these said organisations should have received amount greater than what's mentioned above.

I too think that these organisations should receive amounts greater than what's mentioned. However, I guess they didn't receive any amount GREATER than what's mentioned above, did they?

Why must Dr.koh Tsu koon's wife donated RM350,000.00 to Bakti? She must understand that "HAO XIN U HAO PAO" and transffering the money to Bakti shows that she is not compassionate. Really unsympathetic to the poor or the needy!

sn3545,

I don't know how you interpret Jeff's entry. But in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with his statement, which is Mathematically correct. Read again what he posted:

"I just checked with the Mount Miriam Hospital, which specialises in cancer treatment, had yet to receive any amount greater than RM2,572.63, which was paid cash on April 1, 2008."

From my understanding, he mentioned that Miriam Hospital had received RM2,572.63 on 1st of April and no other donation of money received afterward; hence the word "no greater than". In other words, the hospital did not receive donation more than RM2,572.63 (which is true...so what's the problem? LOL).

Mind you, a figure that is not greater than RM2,572.63 can range from RM0 to RM2,572.63. So what's wrong with that?

Take Tanjung Bunga to the court, or let them take you to the court to reveal more instead of arguing via media which serves no purpose to us all.

sn3545,

Jeff said that the hopital confirm, they received only RM2572.63 !!! Having said that, why dont you make another quick check and tell us, how much is the amount donated to the Mt. Miriam Hospital?

Dear sn3545,

Both JeffOoi and you did a quick check but the date and results are different.

Since you are confident of your source, why not give us a quick fact such as receipt number and date?

Jeff,

You are not funtioning as MP but as a reporter instead.

You are reporting what others are doing, NOT what are you planning to voice out.

Wake up young MP !!! You are no longer an apprentice. Start looking at the big picture. I hope now you realize that commenting is much easier than acting.

Dear Concerned Citizen (sn3545), perhaps Jeff did check and at THAT time, the quantum Mt. Miriam Hospital received was what Jeff claimed. Could it be that after the ruckus that was created that someone now made up the shortfall? Would be interesting to check when Mt. Miriam Hospital received all the money.

You are also very quick to make blind accusations on Jeff without first looking at this possibility. If you had, you would have posted this here already.

referring to the above comment by "concerened citizen":

If that is the case, i'm getting really doubtful of the posts on all these online blogs. I mean, its ok if you are sure what you are posting is verified and come from trusted resources. BUT, if it's like this, it makes me go hmmm....
