Secret recipe
Now that the Parliament is dissolved and general election is on, folks in Penang are prescribing a strict menu that I have to adhere to.
No sushi. No eggs. Have more coconut stuff.
To Penang Hokkien, sushi (su si) means 'to lose completely' (输死); eggs (jia nui) mean 'zero' (吃鸡蛋).
Have more coconut, 'pao yia' (包椰), means 'guaranteed to win' (包赢).

haha.good play on the words, jeff.
then for your dessert, maybe you should consider the pineapple, so that at least you have fortune coming your way.
(pineapple is 'ong lai' in hokkien, literally means 'fortune or luck come').

Jeff, but make sure that you don't till "laosai" :)
Will be back to Pen for holiday. Though can't vote this time, hope that people in Pen, and Mas in general, will vote wisely this time. Regret that I didn't register during the previous trips back. Anyway, will meet some friends (one of whom is assisting Anwar now) there, and see if can be of any help.
Good luck and hope to see results showing that there is still future in Mas.

Jeff,
It is good that you will stand for elections for the Parliamentary seat. Congratulations and good luck on your quest.
But why Penang..? Why not at Subang area, the place where you live in?
It is sad that you are taking away the opportunity for home grown Penang leaders to have a chance in representing their people of their own community.

Hi Jeff,
Good luck on the election! Hope penang-lang knows the difference between a good politician and a bad ones. I think us Malaysians have had enough of backbone-less Chicken...i mean politicians.
Add "Chicken with bones" to your recipe.

Jeff,
Will sure support u in Penang.
Have always supported the opposite in the state n parliament seat. May the force be with you.
JEFF OOI says: The next re-drawing of constituency boundary is 2010, and Penang BN will need 2/3 majority to bulldoze through the motion and Umno seats may increase from current 15 to 20. Your vote counts to preventing such things from happening or else Umno dominance in Penang will strengthen and you can't any more in GE2013.

Penangnites always end up showing that they have no balls when it comes to the crunch. This time round some semblance of courage must permeate through for you to have any chance.

Jeff,
Now that the parliament is dissolved and it is time to see the fight to go on. Good luck and fight the corrupted government and make sure DAP put up some good fight and do not be too over confident as the BN has already have their machinery and dirty votes. Make sure throw some good issues to convince the voters and just tell them that lives will be hard for them if they vote for BN as everything will go up after the GE.
Good luck and all the best, anyway which constituency will you stand for in this election, may be in the Perai area and not on the island.

Jeff:
I'm from Penang & am glad to see that you are planning to stand in Penang. I'll exercise my vote in Bagan & will definitely go for DAP:)Enough is enough...we have been having to much nonsense with this government & it's time to show UMNO & it's associates that we are not fools that can be bought over only when election comes. Good luck & God Bless.

If you win Penang (hooo...winning an Island!!), its one small step to some yet a big step for the rest of us who believes in fair and honest elections.
If you contested for the Kinrara seat in Selangor (where I live) my votes will definitely go to you (probably get my entire family to vote that way too). I wish I could vote outside my constituency :(

This is to let you in to a famous Penang joke.
In the state assembly, every assemblyman only needs to go into each meeting with a coconut in one hand and a bottle in the other. When proposals are made by anyone in the ruling party, all you need is to raise your hands to show both items. Coconut means "Ya" (yes). the bottle means "betul". No objections to any resolutions!

Your supporters at this blog are already DAP/opposition supporters. While it is important to retain their support, I believe the difference is in convincing the fence-sitters, who voted BN to play safe, to change sides.
