My worthy opponent in Jelutong... ( 2 )
Finally, Koh Tsu Koon, the worthy opponent that I couldn't face-off with in Jelutong, has started to attack me as JEFF 4 MALAYSIA campaign enters the third day.
I held a press conference this morning to rebut him and to blow his covers.

'Give us 10 years and Penang shall rival Singapore'... Tsu Koon claimed in Guang Ming Daily June 23, 1999, five months before the 'Reformasi' General Election
Incidentally, PKR Penang held another press conference at the same time at a different place, giving more expose to the Chief Minister who has helmed Penang for 18 years, running it to the ground.
Here's an entry on the issue by NST-Business Times:
ELECTION 2008: Ooi stands by his claim despite Koh's rebut
By : Marina EmmanuelGEORGE TOWN:
Controversial blogger Jeff Ooi, who was described by Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon on Tuesday as "irresponsible" and "ignorant" for saying that Penang has lost its dynamism and competitiveness, is standing by his claim.
The DAP candidate for the Jelutong parliamentary seat today said he is not going to respond to Koh by name-calling but would continue to engage Koh with facts and figures to back his statements, especially when it concerned the electrical and electronics industry in Penang.
"Penang needs to get into indigenous manufacturing and not sweatshop assembly test and manufacturing operations. The State's economic model should be one which is anchored by knowledge workers but if factories keep relocating and moving out of Penang into Kedah and China, we will end up with abandoned factories," he told a press conference at the DAP headquarters at Jalan Talipon.
Ooi said his claims that technology giant Intel Corporation was reducing its workforce in Penang and redeploying them to other locations were based on information from industrialists.
Ooi also quoted a Jan 14 Business Times report stating that once the new Intel facility in Kulim is up and running, Intel likely to deploy some of its Penang employees to Kedah and may also relocate its chipset manufacturing activities from the island to the Kulim High Tech Park where the company's facilities are located.
"When I said that Penang ranked fifth in 2007 in terms of approved manufacturing projects by state," Ooi noted, "I was quoting statistics obtained from the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority's website and did not make up these figures. I am providing statistics provided by the same Government he has served for the past 18 years."
Ooi reminded Koh of a vernacular news report on 23 June 1999 where the Chief Minister has appealed to Penangites to give the Barisan Nasional a 10 year mandate so Penang can rival Singapore.
"He has one more year left to deliver but going by the reported S48,900 gross domestic product per capita figures, I can tell you that this figure is nowhere close to what the people of Jelutong are earning now," he said.
While waiting for the vernacular Press to come up with the story, Malaysiakini Chinese edition was first to have it uploaded on the web. Print, and spread it around, folks.
I hope someone could could help translate it into English as I don't have the time.

That's the way to go Jeff!
Counter their claims with facts and figures. That will get them running backwards trying to cover their exposed rears.

Jeff,
A lot of my non-chinese colleague are asking, how do they find out where the DAP ceramah are held. Its very embarassing to tell them that, the only way to find out is thru chinese newspaper.
Its really dissapointing that only few DAP leaders bother to publish out their schedule ( eg: Lim Kit Siang ), while the rest, like you who should emphasize more on power of internet have failed to utilize its full potential.
JEFF OOI says: I have no time to go online. My constituency in Jelutong has lower Internet penetration as a communication channel. I must do the needful during the campaign period.
I have been busy sending sms to frens/colleague to update them on the ceramah location, and to the extend of capturing some video on my camera to show them.
Its really frustrating that DAP did not record their ceramah to distribute it via DVD/youtube.
Anyway, i guess its too late now, and i'll do my best to keep my friends/colleague updated manually.
ps: we still loves DAP :)
JEFF OOI says: Thx for the support. Please call the respective DAP state HQs for ceramah info. Things get even harder as police permits can be issued as late as barely 24 hours before the ceramah.

Dear Jeff,
I'm a big fan of jeffooi.com since I was working in Singapore from 2000 to 2004...It is good to know all the REAL facts and figures you got in your hand to fight for Penangites whereas our Malaysian newspaper are published the different FACTS you showed to the public...It is very common that Opposition used to fight using what the opponent couldn't deliver as what they had promised to the public...But as a candidate, you also need to give your solutions to what Gerakan can't deliver to Penangites and what DAP can do for Penangites to prosper and enjoy an equivalent strong economy as Singapore...Not just mouth fighting without a concrete resolution because if things continue to work in a traditional way, it will make you look like a Pin-Pointer more than a Politician to help the public....

I am inclined to believe you Jeff, even though I benefitted from the construction of the huge plant by Intel in Kulim coz I did some indirect supplies to Intel's vendor. Intel is also constructing huge mega plants in Vietnam bypassing Penang. What Koh got was the tail end of leftover investment, the big money went elsewhere.

Singapore, Hong Kong,Taiwan and Korea are runs on Knowledge economy (Alas, not the reinvented bubble dot com in year 2000).
To do that, you need tons of investment on IT (inevitable), educations, reform on kowtow structure, reform the properties centric economy, etc.
The no.1 question, Penang are suppose to have some polytechnic build. But wait, there is NONE... too bad.
In short, I don't see Penang has done any of it in KTK administration, and I don't think BN are going to do it in next 50 years. Penang are now a pearl soaked inside vinegar.

What are Motorola Penang ?
I just take a quick peek
http://www.motorola.com/content.jsp?globalObjectId=1750-3465
An integrated R&D and manufacture center for wireless and energy product. Motorola handset 21% global share(2006) has drop to 17.5%(2007).
I get more interesting picture with google. Hahaahahaha
http://fiontys.blogspot.com/2007/09/motorola-in-middle-no-where.html
Apparently, Motorola Penang need to spend millions to solve the flood problem that pose a risk to their plant.

Jeff, please refer to the URL given below, it is too good to be just a pure coincidence. I believed there is a possibility that this is how they intend to do double voting with the help of undi POS.

Hi, Jeff
You might want to point out to Koh Tsu Koon that the Intel that he is so proud about has put it's Asia-Pacific regional HQ in Singapore. Why didn't Intel locate this HQ in Penang, or elsewhere in Malaysia?
Ditto for Dell, which has a big assembly plant in Penang. But Dell's Asia-Pacific HQ and design centre is also in Singapore.
As also for Motorola, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Seagate, and other high-tech MNCs which have put their regional HQs in Singapore.
It says a lot for Penang, doesn't it, that it is not able to attract the regional HQs of these MNCs, with all the well-paid jobs that they can provide.
Or maybe Rafidah's ministry is not doing it's job well.
I would love to see Koh do a detailed comparison of Penang and Singapore. But, of course, he will be careful not to get bogged down in that particular minefield!

In view of the "fairness" of SPR, in my opinion, it is risky to Penang voters and DAP for urging supporters to wear DAP colors.
We roughly know the answer from yesterday's ceramah crowd. We should celebrate on polling day. I propose people to wear as colorful as we like, as smart as we like, as pretty as we like, as we are making the historical moments!
