Decisive indecision

Yesterday, at 3:40pm, Star SMS News Alert carried this:

PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi says he will decide if Dr Koh Tsu Koon cannot make up his mind to stay on as Penang CM or move to a federal post.

Within the hour and with Damage Control mode engaged, the Chief Minister that Penang endured for the last 18 years finally showed his card, announcing that he will move on to be a Cabinet minister, if elected as a Member of Parliament.

That ends months of speculation of whether Penang will at last get a new Chief Minister, with new ideas, after 18 long years. But will there an avalanche effect in Penang that Tsu Koon predicted?

Finally, Dr Koh Tsu Koon fearful of a defeat abandons Penang and decided for a Minister post. With his impressive academic credentials, this might be his smartest move as after the election he might be left with an impotent Government when the opposition captured more seats in the State

He has nominated 3 Gerakan members
1. Datuk Lee Kah Choon - Health Ministry parliamentary secretary
2. Datuk Seri Chia Kwang Chye.- Deputy Information Minister
3. Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan, State Exco member

to succeed him but without an UMNO nominee, they would likely be unacceptable as what if UMNO have more elected reps than the MCA & Gerakan combined after the results are announced. More details

For many years, Penang people refuse to admit that KTK are lame duck chief minister. Little Napoleon(Animal Farm) all over the government just overriding him without failed.

Penang start facing FDI competition pressure from Vietnam and Thailand. When the global economy growth slowly, the key electronic industrial in Penang will take direct hit.

Besides Penang Island limited landscape, Penang still focus its unsustainable development on the Island. With the high concentration of population Penang are suppose to be a satellite K-economy cities, but it is not.

the Penang CM post is at the pleasure of UMNO..how many times have they demanded for it? That is why it is safe to say gerakan CM is a dead duck..he is a marionette..and we knows who pulls the strings..Ask him to jump..he will not only jump..he will ask how high. That is how weak the Gerakan CM is.
