This is also the all-time low in the PM's approval rating since he took over the office from Dr Mahathir Mohamad. As at December 2007, Abdullah's rating among the Malays, Chinese and Indians has dropped by 8%, 5% and 41%, respectively.

On economic outlook for 2008, confidence in the Abdullah Administration in running the economy remains high among the Malays, but very, very low among Chinese.

The poll indicates that the Malays are the most positive with 53% expressing optimism. However, only 19% of Chinese are optimistic, while 43% of Indians show their optimism.

Ever since the PM took office his ratings have been falling. His performance as a PM is mediocre at best. The peoples' perception is the country is on auto-pilot most of the time and as a result his ministers and MPs are running out of control. We cannot afford to let him continue as PM otherwise the country will deteriorate further.

Any idea what it is that those who approve of Badawi really approve of?

Abdullah’s drop in rating is no surprise; after the recent UMNO meeting with 5000 reps, he told reporters that his chances of wining BIG would be difficult. He mentioned that “I have begun to implement.. the promises” means he has really been sleeping all along and only after 4 years when he needs another mandate he woke up to implement his promises.

The reality is that he is still looking for ‘the right time” to go to the Polls & the GE might be delayed. With the shortages and spiraling prices, especially the essential goods hurting the pockets of everyone are also hurting the votes for the BN. He is now asking the 5000 UMNO reps to explain to the people first and to resolve local issues and also the setting up of the National Stockpile and National Call Centre would be established under National Price Council to keep goods available. His other triumph card for the Public sector is the RM2billion in lieu of the Bonus announcement to win over the 1.2 Billion Government servant votes

And in the latest CNN Interview (Friday 25th Jan 08, 8.45pm), he refused to divulge the election date & denied the early Polls were to deny Anwar the chance to enter the polls. He was pointedly asked “would you happily run against him?” and evaded it. The Nov 25 Hindraf protest (with footages shown) was also raised and was asked how he addresses the issues.. Finally they grilled him on his views as the Chairman of OIC on the Concern that the Voice of the Islamic Moderates is being drowned out by the rise of Islamic extremisms and anti-western rhetoric

If I belong to the group of special people who had been enjoying the affirmative action policies I would approve of Abdullah afterall he is proposing to extending the NEP to 2057.
As far as these special people are concerned Abdullah can sleep all he wants so long as they get those goodies is all that matters.

I think the only thing that those who approve of Badawi really approve of is him sleeping and allowing everything to happen right under his nose!

rhetorical question... between the anonymous malay, chinese and indian opinion, which would you trust for an opinion on the economy?
