2008, the first headlines
Amazing. The Abdullah Administration starts the new year with a bang.
This is not the first, neither dare I say it's the last, of people in high places caught with their pants down. Quite a bunch of them are still active in high places till this day, shame or no shame, scorned or otherwise, they are there as your leaders -- playing, praying and preying beside you for all you know.
So, let's take the high road and do not play to the gutter.
We have no business in the private life of two consenting adults. But we do have business in determining how this country is to run its course throughout 2008, and beyond. That is critically more important.
Just watch the orchestra conductor signals for that crescendo. I can't tell when. Neither did the Datuks.

I am sure this is definitely a gift to the current BN adminstration. It shows lack of indiscretion on Chuah's part. I hope he doesn't do the Bill Clinton-Lewinsky style cos the video clearly shows what he has done and it was immorally wrong. He should resign. I feel sad for his wife and family. I don't FOR HIM.

Elaborating on his position in the government, Dr Chua said: "I serve at the pleasure of the prime minister."
I love this one. Enough said.

Chua was man enough to admit his involment in this exposure albeit being caught with his pants completely down. He apologised and I accept, cos this is a private matter and committed in the privacy of a hotel room and not in a public park, therefore its none of our business to play judge here. Stop being a hypocrite for crying out loud. Most mortals like us have done it and so what.
Remember Romeo najis who got caught for khalwat in PD but denied it till today, ex-MB who screwed his wife's sis, yet another ex-MB who raped a 15 year old bohsia, ex-min who silenced his mistress permanently, another min who got his indon maid pregnant, and the list goes on, but have they admitted and apologised for their scandals.
Don't get me wrong, for I have decided to vote Chua out anyway should he be selected again to stand in the next GE.

It is not Malaysian culture to demonstrate like the BERSIH Rally and the HINDRAF rally.
It is not the Malasyian culture to resign when you are caught with your pants down.
So Bill Clinton, caught with his pants down, did not resign, is a Malaysian!

Malaysians are one-kind... when Chua admit the scandal in the press conference, why nobody laugh or boo? Come on, this is an embarrassing thing to him and he is not suitable to represent the people anymore. Same like Samy Velu. He got booed.
He has lost his credibility.

Looked like MCA members are normally caught in all these adultery acts. Not long ago , we have an incident in JB involving MCA and MCA Wanita members. When is MCA going to grow up? What messages are they trying to send to the Chineses? Its OK for them to F around? Just because CSL said its a political conspriracy, it doesnt legitimised his action ! Would you entrust yours and your family's future to such character? Anyway, I am not a MCA member and neither do MCA represents me. And neither would I support MCA.

It is a sign of the low moral standards of the entire Cabinet that the Minister is able to stay put.
Remember the case of the APs? In that case it deprived others of a share of APs that were given in large quantities to a few people.
Infidelity is nothing new and in the good old days, people of such influence would have a few other families.
But it is good that the guy decided to admit his error and ask his family to forgive him.

Dr Chua said: “Who did it and why is obvious...."
Now my dear Chua, that is a cheap shot at getting the people's eyes and mind off you shagging another woman who is NOT your wife.
But then again as is typical of "Malaysian culture", as BN likes to define it, it is not your pornographic act that is the problem right? It is the opposition and your enemies who are at fault here.
And you got your Wanita MCA's Dr Yen...whatever, whatever, advising women to wear see through and sexy nighties!!! My my, a bunch of lunatics in MCA!!

So what Dr. Chua did was wrong but everyone has his own moment of weakness. I am not going to be the moral police lecturing Dr. Chua about his sin, coz my sin list may be longer than him. Some people may find pleasure lecturing Dr. Chua about his escapade but if one really understand the kind of underground vice activities available in JB, one will understand the temptation.
Now, Dr. Chua has been caught with his pants down, no excuses for him to stay as a Minister but his reluctancy to resign only showed one reason, he wants to make those who set him up to keep on the pressure to get the higher up to sack him. To resign immediately would have rewarded those behind the plot victory, but to fight and stay on will bring these skimmers out.
Dr. Chua did not want to resign not because he is stubborn, he wants to know who is the one behind it.

Elsewhere, a certain walla has written this piece:
"The tape was released two years after it was taken and that was during the time of the camp A vs B fracas inside the MCA. One asks what’s so great about political positions that fellow members would try to stab one another in the back with such desperado tactics? It can’t be for service to community and nation. It certainly can’t be for the salaries and perks. It must be for something else - leveraging political power to peddle contracts, licenses and permits. And that’s what Barisan Nasional has been so far. They fight tooth and nail, used underhanded tactics, and muzzle all resistance to the way they govern. They even fight amongst themselves, exonerate money politics and sell their souls ..all to get appointed to political positions where they can then wield power for gains beyond junket trips and a chauffeured limousine. If they’re that popular with their respective communities, they would have no problems getting highly-paid jobs so why all the in-and-out-fightings to claw their way up to those positions if not for compensations beyond public view?
That’s the main question for the tape being released recently, underlying which the whole shebang about barisan nasional.
The other matter about his infidelity is something else. People have written about it being his private business, his wife suffering in silence, his act besmirching the post, party and coalition. But why would someone in his sixty-first year of life (today) holding a high position of some standing to community in a multibillion ringgit ministry providing life-supporting services to nation, due for retirement anytime soon, and with the enviable privilege to be able to look back on life with some form of self-satisfaction using professionally-trained perspectives go ahead and do something so foolhardy like that?
Perhaps it’s ego, endorphins or just the emotion of ‘expectation’. There are many CEOs who go through daily regimes, get tired of it all, and go looking for that psychological trigger of ‘expectation’ - the kick from doing something that is a no-no by the societal norms of the day - because the very experience of looking forward to a few hours of passionate trysting after a hard month’s unremitting piling of mortality rates, dumbass policies, heat-draining meetings etc just get into their system to create that itch that dissolves the last vestige of matrimonial resistance. So they go looking for some other form of piling instead to drain away the mental exhaustion, straighten the gut (to extirpate constipation), pump the heart faster (to flush out the plaques). And all these reasons concocted to rationalise these pecadillos somehow manually override all other considerations. As they do once they find it easier to do twice, then thrice and it soon becomes habitual and independent of all contrary rationalization. Too much of anything loses its lustre soon enough and sex is no exception. Too much of it becomes mundane because the deepest recess of the mind which triggers such a biological activity learns to anticipate what will be the next step, next tremor, next satiation.
The biggest sufferers will always be the wives; they who had kept their part of the matrimonial bargain find the very act of the other party cheating on them as a slap on their innocent faces, a demolition of all that has been believed to be the sanctity of a marriage, the embarrassment before friends and relatives in such a highly profiled public standing and, worst of all, not being able to see anything nice or redeeming coming out after such an painful exposure.
Chua was man enough to admit and apologize. His wife was strong enough to publicly stand by him and say he’s a good man notwithstanding. Those who made and used the tape, perhaps even the woman who had participated in it, should ask themselves what it is they have really achieved in the end that’s so worthwhile considering how small this country is in the history of nations - is the removal of a political foe at the expense of destroying a man and his family really that noble a reason?
Those who dream of extra-marital affairs should consider the basic question - why should a young woman go for a married man when she can have other less complicated choices whose ability to love her would be no less, and probably more?
Having a good and strong marriage, constantly overcoming temporary temptations and life’s perpetual difficulties, being able to live with rational conviction according to a set of principles - these form a blessing for many, beyond wealth and health.
But yes, reality be told, for tired men, sex does have its own attributes; it's escapism incarnate. Having said that, if wives want to do so too, let no law stand in their way. It’s only fair.
Make love, not politics, prudes, and let's be swedish about things."
