Dec 9: No walk, only talk... and performances

UPDATED VERSION. The Bar Council has decided to call off its annual Human Rights Day walk on Sunday, December 9.
However, the rest of the festivities and performances at the Central Market will proceed as planned.
We do not know if Bar Council has bowed in to pressure from the authorities to obtain a police permit. Or was it due to massive spin-doctoring that had labelled the Dec 9 People's Freedom Walk in conjunction with UN's World Human Rights Day as being anti-government? (Read Mr Maidin in Bernama.)
This is what traumatised my mind: Is this year's observation of the World Human Rights Day a joyous celebration for all? Or, by cancelling the Freedom Walk, is it a silent protest against those few who command power to govern the people, neo-feudal-style?
Sources said the council will issue a press statement soon to explain the reasons behind the decision. Let's wait for it to clear the air.
UPDATES: This is the official statement from Bar Council president Ambiga Sreenevasan .

i asked my friends (at mamak) and relatives about their opinion on the march aka rally aka demo aka protests. most of them (better say all of them) did not support the march. #1 reason is traffic jam. #2 reason is the scene is frightening, especially the hindraf march.

Yes, they did the right thing to call off the march. The hindraf demonstration really scary and they seems like trying to provoke the police to prove their 'etnic cleansing' point. The BERSIH march is realtively peaceful. Another march will only make the situation worse and the hindraf may highjack the march by creating another riot.

i asked all my friends (the Lake Club and FRIM fraternity)and relatives about their opinion on the march aka rally aka demo aka protests. most of them (better say all of them) supported the march. #1 reason is to highlight the frustration and hatred we have for this bn gomen. #2 the sufferings we endured under the polis recklessness is a small price to pay to voice our freedom. we shall overcome!

And while we are there at Central Market for the festivity, there is nothing stopping us to walk the walk!
SO GO THERE IN FULL FORCE TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT OF HUMAN RIGHTS.
