'They shoot monks, don’t they?'

From Wong Chun Wai's column today:

It took a while but the government that shot monks in Vietnam was eventually toppled. We hope the same happens in Myanmar.

If that's the consistent wish, the government that shot at civilians in Batu Buruk will ultimately go.

The Star also talked about civil uprising in Myanmar triggered by fuel price increase, and the blanket media blackout.

Same theme, same disquiet, but it's so much easier to point to faults beyond our own backyards.

Some things never change. Instead, they repeat themselves. Do you also know of police officer Nordin bin Ahmad? I am concerned when the candle winks its last blink.
.
UPDATES: They should stop shooting protesters, so said Razali Ismail, who was former UN secretary general Kofi Annan’s emissary to Myanmar.

Yes, they do. They want to hold on to power. The country is one big "Piggy Bank", to loot as one pleases.

well said jeff ... people who did evil to others will not see one's own evil ... so i guess we need to wait for outsiders to point it out to these evils before they knew the truth, but then with the denial syndrome, malaysia might be immune to what occured in vietnam and possibly myanmar ...

cheers ...

I don't read the datuk's editorial since long time ago. Mosquito in a faraway land can see..elephant right under his nose..tak nampak langsong.

I BORROW the star to read the sports pages.

Would Wong Chun Wai's view's of the position taken by the governing authorities in Myanmar apply equally to the Malasyian government too? After all just like in Myanmar, we too shoot, don't we? We too use the FRU who can be as brutal as the Myanmar Military. Or is there a moral and world of a difference between Myanmar and Malaysia where because in the former they use the Military whereas, in Malaysia we use the informidable "FRU" who are not considered Military, as well as the Special Branch, and there fore ours is just like the quelling of demonstration that we see in any western country?

ahh but we do use the military to shoot kampung folks.

remember MEMALI!!!

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
