Stop the rumours about Dr Mahathir

Marina Mahathir has been getting condolence SMSes and inquiries all night long, asking if her father has passed on.

This is very cruel. Those who started the rumours and those who spread them. These people are very cruel.

So much so, I am also the one getting similar inquiries as if I am Dr Mahathir's next of kin.

Marina has been in contact with bloggers, the last one being a while ago. She asked us bloggers to help dispel the rumours about her Dad.

She said her Dad remains in ICU, heart beating away and very slowly mending again.

"It's still early days after a major op but he is doing fine according to the doctors," she said. "I know there are wild rumours about but as I said, please check here. We would never hide anything very major from you."

She also asked us to point the readers to her blog, which has just been updated at 8:03pm.

Earlier today, Marina informed us that her dad does wake up from time to time and "he can hear us and respond to what we say".

"I told him I was there and he did a typical Dad thing: he winked! I wanted to both laugh and cry," Marina said in her blog, which was precisely picked up by AFP.

Dr M is doing fine. He needs no rumours. Prayers, yes. Rumours, no.

WICKED RUMOURS. Pray for Tun's health.

TDM had a major role in making the judiciary what it is today - a laughing stock. I hope he will live for a long time so he can shed light on the shock-a-lingam tape and also tell us [ DELETED ]'s role and the contribution that he, [ DELETED ], had made to the Malaysian people.

Today is the full moon day, 15th day of the 8th Lunar calender, a holy day and I pray for Tun's recovery. Many years ago, when he was a PM, by chance, I was able to give him a small leather turtle, hand made from one piece of cow leather. I hope he still has it as I want him to live a hundred years. I look at the good things he did, not the mistakes he made.

The great things he did far outweigh his mistakes. Given the odds and challenges in a young nation I believe he did the best he knew how when he held the reins, with all sincerity.

I wish him a speedy recovery.

I am no admirer of TDM. he was suppose to have lost to Tengku razaleigh in 1987 in Umno presidential elections if he had not introduced ghost "branches" which voted for him and caused the court to declare Umno illegal. He is selfish, self centred and a hypocrite.

In 1999 elections, he made newly registered voters ineligible to cast their votes. If he had not done that, I am sure many other states would have fallen into opposition hands.

Sure, the country experienced inexplicable growth rate before 1997, but so was Indonesia, singapore, china, Thailand and brunei. It was a regional phenomena. And when the chips are down, he blamed everyone except himself for the misfortune.

He single handedly turned Malaysia into a one party state and his recent speech on the IDR confirmed his racist views towards the chinese.

JEFF OOI says: No. He didn't turn Malaysia into one party state. The Rakyat did. Racist views against Chine4se? No. The Chinese endured him for 22 years, and gave him resounding support in 1999 when Malay votes moved away from BN. This is realpolitik.

How he turned out after the IJN episode is immaterial as the citizens of the country has a lot of work needed to sort out the mess he created.

hopefully he makes it... take care DR.M, the nation awaits your answer on the lingham tape.

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
