Screenshots was informed that, in settling the case, the BBC will pay no costs nor damages to The NSTP.

In addition, the original BBC story, filed by Kuala Lumpur-based correspondent Jonathan Kent on November 2 last year, will stay on the website with a small note.

BBC is represented by Dato’ Muhammad Shafee Abdullah in Malaysia.

For context, read The Star report on November 4, 2006. Then, the BBC was quoted as saying that:

“We are aware of the New Straits Times’ feelings regarding our report on their editor and his planned departure. We feel it was entirely legitimate to report on the controversy surrounding the departure of their aforementioned editor."

In an unrelated development, Kent will be relocating to the UK at the end of next month.

Well, my believe that there was plagiarism involved is now further reinforced. Maybe [ DELETED ] would lke to do it but not be labeled!....O.k. la...I shall henceforth not apply the plagiarist label...but in m heart I know they did it..and maybe still do it.

Folks

When those fools in NSTP threatened to sue BBC,they were trying score political points and win some clap-traps.

BBC will have chaps in NSTP for lunch when the case is brought up in court.

Who are these guys trying to prove to an established institution which have seen enough of these legal cases.

NSTP - an UMNO-owned newspaper that is protected by a judiciary that is now so badly tainted by scandals.

Few western foreign correspondents cherish the prospect of being recalled home unless they have been promoted to a senior position that could be seen as a springboard to their journalistic ambitions up the organisation. My best wishes to Mr Jonathan Kent at Broadcasting House? I'm more familiar with Bush House.

It's unfortunate Mr Kent is leaving the Msian scene; he knows so much about our country and its development...

Hopefully the next-in-line can succeed his legacy of Msian stories.
