A phone call from Fox
It's about the gravy train in Penang that will unveil September 10.
Read Anil Netto: here and here.
I am on the road again, but not because of the "swine fever" in Ali Rustam's state though it stinks to high heaven. Updates will be sparse in the next few days.

The tense standoff over demolition of Pig farms was averted (50,000 pigs destined for the Dining Table & not the Pit was saved) at about 4 pm following talks between MCA leaders, Police and the farmers. It is learned that the farmers have agreed to relocate some of the farms to Selangor and Johore. Some 1,100 personnel were involved in the operation which started in the early hours of the morning.
And NST had a "scoop" on the “operation”(dished out by Bernama) -
“operation by the Department of Environment, Veterinary Department and police which began at 2am went on smoothly despite protests from some pig rearers who blocked roads leading to the farms.”

I'm against the development in Penang but I don't like sweet talk like this, a carbon free city? Is there such a thing on Earth? In addition, how many acres of trees have to be cleared in order build the city (and replacing it with only 40% of freespace and green within the city)?

Bro Jeff,
I was in Paya Mengkuang yesterday. The pigs there were not suffering from swine fever. In fact,it was something more sinister. The pigs were in fact suffering from Rustam fever. This is a old disease with new signs(I am a vet by training.)
The signs of the disease are:deceive, betrayal, racially motivated and bullying.
Oh,one more thing, the virus that causes the disease has been named Rustam virus.

Jeff, news reports talk vaguely about unlicensed operators and dumping of waste - I feel what we need is facts. Is there some way to actually find out:
1. How many operators if any, were operating without license, and/or in violation of their licenses?
2. Was there any dumping of waste or other illegal activity?
3. Who and what were the actual complaints?

Bro Jeff
There are about 82 pigs' farms in Malacca. All states in Malaysia have stopped issuing licences for pig farming since the Nipah epidemic. So, technically all pig farms in Malaysia are illegal. But, the Jabatan Perkhimatan Haiwan issues permits and collect taxes on the number of pig sold.
Pig farmers are no angels. There are always rogue farmers that discharged the waste without treating it.This group is in the minority. Most pig farmers have spent a fortune in waste treatment.
The real issue in Malacca is intolerance and bigotry on the part of UMNO.

Sorry, typo.. I mean I'm not against the development in Penang... however if some well connected took this opportunity to get something out of it by sweeting talking people into it is wrong.
