Where's the voice of silent majority?

This is an eloquent statement from a fellow Malaysian.

If truly we see a Bangsa Malaysia as being ‘one nation, one people’, then we have to start being just that.

One nation, one people.

But it cannot start and end at this Merdeka get-together.

We must take it beyond.

Bangsa Malaysia Merdeka should not be about an echo-chamber of people who have good food, moving speeches, putting faces to cybernames, camaraderie amongst the like-minded, sing songs, make stirring pledges, and then go home, pat ourselves on our backs and say a silent prayer for Bangsa Malaysia.

Yes, many among us care for the country in our many ways.

Yet, many withdraw themselves to their cosy enclave out of a sense of hopelessness. Out of fear.

Fear and a sense of hopelessness often comes from thinking that you are alone in standing for what is right and just.

God willing, we will soon discover, not in cyberspace, but in the real world, that there are far more of us who aspire to a fair and just Malaysia then there are those who aspire to keep us divided.

Yet the real world rarely hears the voice of that silent majority.

"I know that we share the same hopes. I know we can move beyond merely hoping," Haris said.

In singapore, the elites who run the country are silenced by the government who gave them a pay that exceeds expectation so that many will think twice before raising any dissent.
In malaysia, the voice of th silent majority are silenced by a barbaric mob who will not hesitate to lynch by words or actions any act of dissent against the ruling party.
hence the internet is a convenient medium to express our inner thoughts, and it would be a mistake for any ruler to ignore its contents.

The Cries of a Shackled Citizen

I looked to the clouds above

And found the answers to life

But when I turned my gaze earthwards

The answers were all drowned

Amidst the drudgery

Of struggling for survival

To live from day to day

Keeping my nose above the waters

Bolting my doors

Against the wolf of inflation

That threatens to swallow the fruits

Of my blood, sweat and tears

The grains for my golden years

And I pray that my country

Would not be run to the ground

By bigots, liars and thieves

Masquerading as leaders

And champions of their communities

Beseeching citizens to mix racially

While creating walls to separate them

Threatening the book of ISA and sedition

At those who dare question their actions

Preaching piousness and honesty

While plundering the public coffers

They should be protecting

Under the guise of development

They preach righteousness

Loyalty and adherence to the rule of law

While wealthy felons pay their way

Out of judgment

To freely commit more sins

But the shackled citizen

Hears no voice speaking out for him

For it is drowned by a rowdy mob

Paid for by impunity

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
