URGENT! 11th hour venue change for Water Coalition Aug 4 meet

Civil society groups are to hold the one-day event -- entitled "United for Water: Religions Speak on the Rights to Water" -- at the National Mosque, today.

About 200 people representing NGOs, civil society, religious groups, and resident's associations were to participate in the program.

However, police permit was not granted at the last minute. The Organisers had decided to go ahead with the event at a new venue:

N.U.B.E.
12, Nube House 3rd Floor,
Jalan Tun Sambathan 3,
Breakfields, 40470 Kuala Lumpur
(behind the Petronas station)

DATE:: August 4, 2007 (Saturday)
TIME: 8:45am to 4:30pm.
Contact: 03-2274 9800 / 5281

While the reason for the denial of police permit will be discussed at the meeting, the program will proceed as planned.

The program will bring together various religions in Malaysia to deliberate religious views on the human rights to water, with specific reference to the United Nations' General Comment No. 15. The event will raise awareness among Malaysians to conserve water and respect and protect the human rights to water as a key responsibility.

Isn't it obvious! Even if only a single Islamic based body was to condescend to sit along side groups representing other religions, soem in this country would see it as demeaning the standing of Islam. More often than not it is the Ulama who would be agianst any such sitting down together in a forum where all can be seen to be equal.

First it was the cancellation of “An evening with Raja Petra” and now the postponement of the venue for “Religious Forum on Water” from the National Mosque to NUBE Building. The pattern is emerging and is used effectively to disrupt such meetings on the grounds they perceive as “threats to meddling with Islam”. This is a repeat of the disruption of the “Article 11 Forum” in Johor Bahru on 22nd July 2006?
Now why is PM Abdullah allowing these Hostile Muslims extremists to Dictate & Limits Free Speech?; His excuse – “it could lead to undesired developments by inviting extremists who could jeopardize national security”
Now who are these so called extremists, see pics of them at
