This Merdeka, our 50th, is for Bangsa Malaysia
This Merdeka, the 50th Anniversary, shouldn't go down as mere days of feel-good entertainment and imported pyrotechnics.
Those who believe in Bangsa Malaysia are planning for a People's version of Merdeka.
It's called Bangsa Malaysia Merdeka, and my friend Haris Ibrahim, and more friends, are organising it.

Meanwhile, the organisers await your input and ideas, and you can still email to: thepeoplesparliament @ gmail.com before the details are finalised by Monday, August 6. On my part, I would like to recite several pantun verses and a poem for the occasion.
Stay tuned for the BANGSA MALAYSIA Merdeka. Not the Bangsawan or the Pembesar Politikus's Merdeka.

not to be a party pooper, but i believe that for a long time now, those from Sarawak and Sabah have argued (quite reasonably) that 31st August is not Malaysia's true independence day, but 16th September.
although i'm from the peninsular myself, i can see the merit of their arguments and think that we should indeed celebrate "Malaysia Day" on 16/9 rather than "Malaya's Independence" on 31/8.
