Standing up for NameWee-ku

UPDATED VERSION. Prior to the MCA- induced apology, Wee Meng Chee had narrated how his YouTube Negaraku-ku was distorted by Harian Metro, a Malaysia tabloid published by the New Straits Time Group. He press release was published in Malaysiakini (Bahasa Malaysia edition) on August 14, titled: NegaraKuKu: Harian Metro terabai.

After the apology ceremony was staged at the office of an MCA Minister, the Cabinet decided that Wee must be subject to legal action.

Starting this Sunday, there will be at least 6 public forums being organised to give a firm context to the government's incriminatory actions AFTER Meng Chee apology over Negaraku-ku, and the Cabinet's subsequent decision to charge Wee under a variety of laws, including prosecution under the Sedition Act.

NameWee, YOU ARE PATRIOTIC

Looking at the way that you sing the NegaraKu portion, full of passion and full of emotion, you are patriotic.

Comparing to the many politicians in Malaysia, many of them may NOT even know the wordings and meaning of our NegaraKu, let alone sing it out loud, you are patriotic.

Knowing that you did not change a single word of the lyric of the NegaraKu, you are patriotic.

Telling the whole world honestly and truthfully certain aspects and reality of life in Malaysia, you are patriotic.

Telling the whole wide world that there are imperfections in Malaysia and there are rooms for all of us to improve, you are patriotic.

50 years on, Merdeka Day is near, did you ask yourself what had you done to make Malaysia a better place ? Namewee did, as he is patriotic.

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
