Raped and killed. Just another statistic?
Tang Lai Meng, 20, a first year business administration student at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar), Sg Long branch -- Believed to have been raped and strangled.
Crime scene: In her room, in her home away from home,.Bandar Mahkota, Cheras.
You can't say you don't have feelings and empathy for her, and her family.
But what else beyond the tears and Minister's statements and condolences? Wait for the next victim?

3 million or more immigrants crowding into the country, exploited and left to their own whims, a lazy police force, what can we expect? Worse is the tidakapa attitudes of ALL of us! How many of us will readily volunteer for a 24 hour RT vigilante service? How many?

for single ladies, i would recommend staying in guarded properties like apartment blocks.
twenty years ago, I was surprise to see the rich in manila living in guarded poperties, and was warned by the locals not to show my camera in pblic.
Now it is a reality in KL. The police bosses are more interested in protecting their interest than that of the public.
same with sports etc.

The unkindest cut of all would be having to learn from an unofficial source about such a tragedy.
There is such a thing as compassion, something which a whole lot of tall buildings and fancy amenities cannot be a substitute for.
How sad that we have lost our humanity thus!

I really must say this is absolutely outrageous. Enough is enough, and I suggest that the government set up a reserve police force made up of civilians as a second front line for the "war against local terror".
The regular police force alone is no longer effective, as we all can see.

Damn, what's wrong with this society? I can't even walk on the street with peace in mind nowadays.
Instead of engaging in political pugnacity, can our political leaders work together to bring down the crime rate in our country?
Our lives are at stake. With a stroke of bad luck, it could happen to us someday. Until then, keep looking over your shoulders whenever you are, please.

its getting from bad to worse, what more with the force fighting their battle within! And criminals roam freely.
my housing area has flashers, snatch thiefs and amorous indons making their rounds in daylight and in the wee hours of the morning!
on another matter, my maid ran away on 29/7. we tracked her mobile calls and found that she was in JB on that same day and arrived at her country on 31/7. shocking to note that its so easy to exit eventhough her passport was in our safekeeping.
looks like JB is the hub for entry and exit points to the indons!

Hey guys, what proof do we haf that an immigrant did it???
Remember the story about the Japanese monk and his guard dogs? The worse enemies are usually your OWN PEOPLE.
Immigrants are humans too, just like you and me!

Despite our anger and anguish at yet another rape-murder, we shouldn't blame the immigrants automatically before we have all the facts. Yes, they may have created some problems here, but our own people are just as capable of committing heinous crimes.
The real problem is that there is a sense that it is easy to get away with crime in this country, because we have a corrupt and inept police force overseen by a corrupt and inept government, led by a weak, indecisive and irrelevant Prime Minister.
Change must start from the top.

Apparently the house mates were the main suspects now. 3 of them went missing together with her wallet, laptop & the Vois car.

How come we are blaming the police for the beastly things that we do to each other? That doesn't seem to be very fair to me.

Two comments to make on above comments:
1st, I always found it funny when there is crime or rapes reported that some people automatically think of foreigners, however the statistics have shown that the majority of crimes int he country are committed by Malaysians, that is to say usually those who are economically poor and with a poor education, however it is still mostly Malaysians instead of foreigners who make up most of the crime.
2nd, not to go off topic, but I always found it strange that people can hold on to their maids passports, I understand what you will say, what if they run away, however it is internationally recognized that a passport belongs to the country the person is from, and that no one should hold onto another's passport, that to me just seems a bit like slavery then. I mean what if we were to hold onto every single foreigners (expats) passport from the UK, America, etc, after all we have to foot the bill for their airfare, higher salaries, plus their housing etc, those much more of a higher cost and many of them will leave early or quit their jobs for higher paying jobs, but we are not allowed to hold their passport, in fact it is illegal to do so. Just a thought.

Student raped and murdered, body found in the fridge, young mother accused of killing baby, mother's boy friend in custody over child;s death...........I will remain adamant that its the education system in schools and at home where proper values have not been taught to the younger ones and a under strength police force and overbooked courtrooms coupled with poor goverment leadership all leads to the above nad it will continue sadly for many years to come unless we address all the mentioned issues diligently.
We are already like the philipines and Indonesia where more and more of us live in 'walled'dwellings .I am only hoping and praying that it (violent crimes) will not hit one of my loved ones afterwhich it will just be a statistic ..............
