PKFZ: Kong Choy skips Merdeka,,, 2-week MC, oveseas
Minister of Transport Chan Kong Choy has "fled" the country, and likely skipped the Merdeka 50 celebrations, as the RM4.6 billion PKFZ scandal was exploding in his face.
Kong Choy was taking two weeks leave to go abroad because of health reasons, theSun reported.
(Co)incidentally, his taking leave came one day after Malik Imtiaz issued an open letter to Ramli Ngah Talib, commenting on the implication of the Dewan Rakyat Speaker's refusal to allow debate on motions moved by the Opposition pertaining to the PKFZ issue.
A day earlier, August 28, Kong Choy declared that there was no hanky-panky in the PKFZ controversy.
In the open letter (read: Mr Speaker, Sir), Imtiaz said the reason Ramli gave, according to media reports, that there was no need for a debate on the subject in the Dewan as the matter was being looked into by the Government, is crap.
Quote:
The Dewan Rakyat represents the essence of government of the Federation. It is not just a legislative chamber. It is from its members that Cabinet evolves. It is in the Dewan that the deliberation and discussion by elected representatives so essential to the balanced governance of this nation is intended to happen. For this reason, parliamentarians are accorded immunity and privilege from criminal and civil sanction. Through frank and open debates, and the truth that emerges from these debates, it is intended that a certain measure of control be brought over Executive function, a control balanced by the vigilance of an independent judiciary. It is through the Dewan that control over public finance is intended to be exercised.
Were it otherwise, there would be arbitrary exercises of power.
"The Speaker is the steward of the Dewan Rakyat for all Malaysians,". Imtiaz said. "Respectfully, the Speaker appears to have overlooked the beneficiaries of his trusteeship."
It is "an injury to the nation and to Malaysians", Imtiaz added. "The continued rejection of motions vital to a clear understanding of the state of this nation is a process that can only lead us to ruination."
MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA!

"Respectfully, the Speaker appears to have overlooked the beneficiaries of his trusteeship."
If I were Speaker, I would have kneeled over and died of disgrace right there.
Seriously, no profanity would ever match that as insult.

Seems like a trend this days to go overseas when the "heat" is too much to bare in this country. What can we do, when we have a leader who always likes to go Australia, his subordinates just for his example.
I wish my country all the best for having this kind of leaders.
Merdeka!

Even the ministers do not have trust in our own medical facilities and doctors.
What else can we have confidence and belief in?

Kong Choy must had read about the baby's hand that was cut off and chickened out.
Fancy having a trainee doctor treating you???
This happens in the local hospital.
JEFF OOI says: What has a Transport Minister got to do with hospitals? Kong Choy is the Transport Minister. Minister of Health is Chua Soi Lek. Please don't disgrace the quality of Screenshots commenters with your misinformation, please.

If I am not mistaken it it Chua Soi Lek when say in the STAR that a trainee doctor who was instructed by a specialist through the phone to treat the baby.
Kong Choy must had read about the baby's hand that was cut off and chickened out and do not dare to seek treatment locally.
JEFF OOI says: It;'s lame excuse on your part for embedded ignorance. Or else you wouldn't have acted unfair to wrongly insinuated Kong Choy for taking feet because of the hospital mishap. Be fair to Kong Choy and have a heart at the right place. Own up!

It is evident that change is necessary. How do we as the peoples of a nation that just celebrated its 50th independence institute change? I feel helpless except to exercise my patriotic duty to vote accordingly -- because a strong opposition is needed to keep the government in check. Yet, the opposition is clearly powerless in affecting much change. The Speaker of the Dewan is either corrupt (as his decisions are so obviously biased), or incompetent. How then, can the government be held accountable for its actions? The Malaysian government has evolved into a clique of a select few, immune from the law and with an agenda that is only self-serving.
This Merdeka day, though the leaders profess to be for the Rakyat, I can only shake my head in distrust, dismay and disillusionment. I am angry. Yet, I am helpless.
