Negarakuku: ZAM tried to retract expose of Cabinet decisions

A Star editor tipped me off in the afternoon of August 16 on why the Cabinet had decided to subject Wee Meng Chee to legal action despite having his father stage a public apology at the Health Minister's office.

Apparently, Information Minister got too excited and exposed some details of what went on during the Cabinet meeting. ZAM was quoted by the editor, who read the news filed in the system by his reporters, as having said:

"Siapa yang mahukan Wee di kenakan tindakan selepas dia minta maaf? Bukan Umno. Bukan MCA... Gerakan!"

Dr Lim Keng Yaik is the only Gerakan representative in the Cabinet.

The same editor told me that, soon after, ZAM had tried to retract what he had exposed of Keng Yaik.

But too late, Sin Chew went ahead and ran the story in the evening edition, and the regular edition the day after.(see below).

Apparently, too, The Star was embarrassed for spiking the same story.

DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng told me he understood from another editor of The Star that the paper was instructed not to run the story.

We wonder who had instructed The Star to blackout the story, and why Keng Yaik had disagreed with MCA's orchestration in making Wee apologise and subjecting him to legal action again.

Can we ask ZAM about this?

Why Gerakan/Lim Keng Yaik want to do this?

What is stopping PM to summon Lim Keng Yaik?

Folks

Not to worry. Dr Lim Keng Yaik will make a press statement soon to say that the Cabinet misunderstood whaqt he said in the during the Cabinet meeting and Zam had misquoted him.

That had been vintage Lim Keng Yaik.

I thought MCA is the only UMNO lapdog... we even have another hound dog.

But was the Sports Minister Azalina there at the Cabinet meeting? Now she is unforgiving and wants his ”pound of flesh” – to teach others a lesson. It was a free for all discussion; if it was perhaps Mahathir’ chairing it; his decision would prevail.
Also on the sideline at the MCA Youth Assembly, apparently the two youth leaders decide to allow the issue to simmer and not to sensationalize it.

If what Zam blurted was true, then LKY should go for tonsilitis. Has he been eating too much menglembu and gone nuts?

Come to think of it, the entire cabinet should be recycled. Outsource the government of this country.

Why not? There's too much stupid politics. It has become a full-time f#ed up business.

At least the outsourced service providers will have SLA, benchmarks, brains and most importantly can be fired instantly.

The incumbents (incubuses?) however stick like chernobyl radioactive dust.

This country is going into the twilight zone and they're still screwing around making stupid remarks, doing nothing productive, moaning like cats after a downpour and wringing their hands one disaster after another.

Excuser me, ambassadors, ceo's, journalists, analysts etc., up 'em.

What's wrong with out cabinet ppl? Hearing problem? So often misquoted, misunderstood. Alasan alasan.

maybe the gerakan chief was testing waters..he wanted to get Wee charged and and by doing that he could force the hand to get the seditious kris wielder charged too...Even the PM is preaching fairness to all Malaysians (maybe it is elections hot air)...So we cannot charge one without charging the other. If we remember he didn't take too kindly to the seditious comments raised at the UMNO assembly and was the first to voice out against the remarks.

This guy is not stupid..he knows what he is doing.

You have a point. On second thoughts, Lim Keng Yaik could be forcing the hand of UMNO.

Charge Wee, which will then polarise the Chinese vote against MCA who will be seen as weak... and this will force MCA to call for Hishamuddin to be also charge.

I think UMNO played into Lim Keng Yaik's hands... the man is a fox.

And that silly Minister of Information fell for it... including the whole bunch of UMNO.

The Malay vernacular papers are also playing into the hands of the rightwing Chinese.

The more they want to charge Wee, the more the MCA will lose the Chinese vote and this translate into a WEAK BN.

The real loser is UMNO, after all, MCA is almost written off by the Chinese, except for a very few hard core.

The Wee case will sharpen the division of the Chinese against this UMNO Govt... now the Chinese has a face to make an issue. In the past there is no face, only schools and scholarships.

The more UMNO and the Malay papers force the issue of Wee being charged, the more UMNO will lose the Chinese vote for MCA.

Blessing in disguise for DAP and Gerakan... and also for KeAdilan and PAS.

Yes... let's hope UMNO push for the punishment of Wee. Perversely, that could be one way of lessening the BN vote via MCA and UMNO.

The Chinese will now have a good excuse NOT to vote for ANY UMNO candidate and give the vote to ANOTHER MALAY PARTY... ie KeAdilan or PAS, if DAP is not standing in that constituency.

Folks

The way I see it, MCA political strategists are a bunch of idiots, with litle political acumen.

The only way MCA can win Chinese vote is to force UMNO to support the MCA. And that can only take place if the Chinese believe that MCA can deliver the goods. The obstacle for MCA in delivering the goods is UMNO, and UMNO only.

To win Chinese vote, it is NOT good enough to say that MCA is part of Govt... it is to make UMNO the bogeyman.

The more UMNO or the UMNO Maly paper insult the Chinese, the more MCA will lose the Chinese trust and the Chinese vote and of course, with that, the Chinese will NOT vote UMNO in the contest with another Malay party eg PAS and KeAdilan.

The more UMNO puts pressure on the Chinese, the better it is for PAS, KeAdilan and DAP.

If I am a right wing Chinese bigot, I would encourage UMNO to keep on insulting the Chinese...that is the fastest way of making BN weaker. UMNO can rule the country with MIC alone and with other irrelevant small parties, if only MCA leaves BN.

They call it, reverse psychology. MCA should play it to its advantage ie telling UMNO, the line is now drawn clearly for the chinese vote.

60% of the population.

2/3 majority in Parliament.

Wake up to the real world!

skilgannon1066

UMNO membership is only about 2 million, maximum if I am not mistaken.

We are not talking about Malay and Chinese votes. The Malay vote is split as much as the Chinese vote is split.

We are talking about UMNO votes and UMNO does NOT represent ONLY the Malay votes.

If MCA has the balls, the real world for MCA is to leave BN... and see what the repercussions to UMNO will be.

Malaysia will still have to be led by a Malay-based party... but not necessarily has to be UMNO.

MCA and DAP cannot lead this Govt at least not in the next 50 generations, if ever.

Someone has to wake up to real world. You have been bought into the racial politics of UMNO to think that UMNO represents ALL Malays.

Get Real !!!

Jeff,

ChuA Soi Lek named one of the ethnic Chinese ministers in cabinet played 'nicam' 表里不一 to Chinese and Malay community.

He said this minister is not from MCA

so question now, who is that minister that Chua mentioned here ?
