'Confined to Chinese'
According to Malaysiakini, MCA Youth chief Liow Tiong Lai reiterated, in a strongly-worded speech at the opening ceremony this morning, that the relationship between BN component parties was not one of ‘master and slave’.
“We in MCA and MCA Youth won’t be easily bullied by others, ren bu fan wo, wo bu fan ren; ren ruo fan wo, wo bi fan ren,” he quoted the Chinese saying ( “人不犯我,我不犯人;人若犯我,我必犯人”, a rehash of what retired MCA leader Lee Kim Sai said in the 1980s when he was the MCA Youth Chief), which loosely translates to how one who is offended would retaliate.
“In the ‘BN family’, we are brothers, there is no master and slave, there is no question of who is being scared of who or whom should kowtow to whom,” Liow added to a thunderous applause from the 887 delegates present. [...]
Liow suggested the authorities should do away with labels like ‘Muslims and non-Muslims’, ‘bumiputeras and non-bumiputeras’ among Malaysians to eradicate racism and advocate the spirit of ‘rakyat Malaysia’.
The apex of Liow’s speech was in the closing when he said that it was never MCA Youth’s culture to brandish the keris (traditional Malay dagger).
“If we want to brandish something, why not let us wave the Federal Constitution?” he said as all of the Youth wing committee members on the stage rose in unison with copies of the constitution in their hands to loud applause from the floor.
Among the VIP guests who were present this morning include Umno Youth vice-chief, the Son-in-Law. And Malaysiakini journalist Beh Lih Yi made the following observation:
The delivery of Liow’s hard-hitting remarks however were only confined to Mandarin. [...]The Bahasa Malaysia portion of his address made at the meeting did not include those criticisms
The Son-in-Law, through the two-hour-long opening, was later pursued by the journalists for his comment on Liow's harsh criticisms "which seemed to target Umno"... the only response from him was that he has to read the speech first.
Asked to comment on Liow’s remarks on waving the constitution instead of the keris, Khairy replied: “Did he say that? I have to see how it was phrased, I don’t understand Mandarin.”
More quotes:
Immediately after Khairy’s brief chat with the media, he returned to the VIP guest room and was overheard asking what Liow had said in his speech such as the remark on the keris.
Explaining, the MCA Youth chief was heard responding that he only informed the delegates on “what had happened”.
At this juncture, a MCA official immediately delivered a copy of the translated Bahasa Malaysia speech to Khairy, which was taken by an Umno Youth member. The brief encounter was believed to end in an atmosphere of embarrassment.
During the debates, Perak delegate Ding Siew Chee touched on Wee Meng Chee's Negarakuku controversy and questioned aloud as to why the authorities adopt double standards by not prosecuting Umno leaders who make racially inflammatory remarks. Quote from Malaysiakini:
Ding also presented a theory as to why Umno leaders, particularly de facto law minister Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz, kept harping on the matter.
“It’s because Wee is Chinese,” said Ding bluntly.
“In Umno, so many of their leaders have made worse comments...Umno should be censuring these people,” he added.
Another delegate from Selangor's Pandan division suggested that MCA should withdraw from the Barisan Nasional.
Whereas Wanita MCA lamented that the next general election may be a case of "BN winning, MCA losing".
We are learning something on politics, aren't we... like using different script speaking to different crowds? Or are you saying you are embarrassed?

What a display!!!
MCA showing it has balls.. big ones too!
What in the next few days when UMNO Youth and SIL come out condemning the speech and MCA and MCA Youth will come out apologising profusely with their tails between their legs ang Ong Ka Ting disown the speech.
I would not give MCA any applause until after two weeks.
If the substance of the speech is repeated in comments in the media, then we know MCA means taking UMNO and UMNO Youth, head on and balls on.

I just can't stop this MCAi bashing. According to Darwin evolutions, it took millions of year for a simple cell evolve to vertebra.
On the other hand, we all know for creature to drop their backbone, it just take days.
----------
Ok, enough of my own bashing on MCAi. The election is close? Otherwise why a sudden change. And we know all this are not going to be "displayed" on Utusan, Metro, NST.

Folks
Here is the ADVICE to Chinese voters, especially to traditional MCA voters and sympathesisers:
DON'T vote for MCA this coming election if for one moment, there is a sense that:
a) MCA or MCA Youth or Ong Ka Ting or any of MCA Leaders come out an make conciliatory remarks on the comments of MCA Youth Chief Liow.
b) If ever MCA ever apologises, you should burn up your MCA membership card and start campaignin AGAINST MCA.
The Message to MCA and MCA Youth is this:
Don't tell UMNO Youth, you have balls, you got to SHOW you have balls.
DON'T BUY UMNO or any UMNO Minister's election promise crap.. It only lasts TWO months after the election.
Don't forget Hishammudin was the one wielding the keris and threatening the non Malays especially the Chinese.. thanking him for the chinese school bribery is amounting to selling the souls of the Chinese to UMNO.
Under current circumstances, between two hard rocks, PAS and KeAdilan are still better than UMNO. Because if you look at the problems of the Chinese, voting for PAS or Keadilan against UMNO cannot be any worse.
In fact, it is better that MCA quit Barisan Nasional ( so that UMNO works only with MIC) and join up with the Opposition Parties of PAS, Keadilan and DAP to take out UMNO from Govt.
The cowardice of MCA in the face of UMNO and UMNO Youth's relentless bully must stop and YOUR VOTE is the most effective solution to stop this prolonged bullying of the Chinese over the last 30 years by UMNO and UMNO Youth.
Don't forget UMNO Youth threatened to burn down the Chinese Assembly Hall before.
Tell MCA, if they want to remain relevant, talk is cheap...being a spokesmen of UMNO is over...they have to be a spokesman for the Chinese.. and it is time that MCA leaders show they have balls if they want to be elected.
The Chinese have enough of the racial politics of UMNO...damn too long.

To MCA - Quit talking and begin doing!
To Khairy - Go ahead and bash MCA like a slave. Whether that is good for the election, it's another matter.

"Actions speak louder than words." If MCA meant what they meant, do something. Some suggested actions: make police report on the errant UMNO leaders, organize a Forum to openly discuss Namewee case. I only give two tips. They should do their job to think of more actions themselves.

Seems like nowadays, not only Malay politician threatening Chinese with May 13 to gain votes, even MCA leader did that... Does she really think that it will works on young voters like us?
However, i think "Whereas Wanita MCA lamented that the next general election may be a case of "BN winning, MCA losing"." is true.
Goto cari forum then you'll see how many people vow to vote the alternative rather than BN.

Folks
Have you read Pak Lah's speech at the MCA Gen Assembly and Ong Ka Ting's speech.
This is what I think:
a) I am not convinced Pak Lah is sincere in what he says. This is all another UMNO's pre-election promise and feel-good crap for the Chinese to vote MCA. A VOTE FOR MCA IS A VOTE FOR UMNO... and for the continuation of the relentless bullying of the Chinese by UMNO and UMNO Youth (read keris...) with the silence of MCA leadership.
Pak Lah did not come out to censure UMNO Youth Hishamudin when he was wielding the keris at the UMNO General Assembly or to rein in his SIL for making racist remarks. If Pak Lah had done that, then what he says at the MCA Assembly could be genuine.
I would take what Pak Lah said, as PM and as President of UMNO, with plenty of salt.
As for Ong Ka Ting, you don't come and talk about principles of cooperation after 50 years and pleading, forgetting you are a Senior Partner in BN, to UMNO to accept your abstract description of 4 principles. MCA should be talking about nuts and bolts of cooperation... asking UMNO to stop bullying the Chinese in the media, and raising racial issues affecting the Chinese in public, and giving warnings to MCA leaders and Chinese when it is UMNO Youth who started raising sensitive racial issues.
And when the Chinese responds. UMNO and UMNO Youth leaders tried to suppress dissent by asking discussions on these racial issues provoked by UMNO and UMNO Youth to be held behind closed doors.
This policy of close-door consultations had not helped MCA and the Chinese.. because what it does it allows UMNO to sweep dirt under the carpet... and allows UMNO to continue provoking racial sentiments while preventing MCA from responding in public.
Ong Ka Ting has show he lacked the courage to show his balls to UMNO in his address

As someone who had voted BN for several elections - ever since I became eligible to vote - and who has since made a decison NOT to vote BN in the coming General Elections, it would take much more than a few "brave" tokens to convince me that MCA has the true guts to champion democracy and fair play and to defend against excesses by UMNO, the govt and religious authorities.
Yes, I would give Liow the benefit of the doubt, and say bravo for his stance. Bravo too to Ong Ka Ting for 4 "key principles for the party's continuous cooperation in the BN". A good start? Maybe. Perhaps the two will stand by what they said.
The "nice noises" suddenly being made by the likes of Zam and the soothing words now said by the PM will need to be backed by concrete and lasting actions on their part before I give them credence. I have heard too many sugar coated promises which only brought me much heartache.
Transparency. Work with me, not for me. No more mega-bailouts. PM for all Malaysians.
Keris-wielding (twice!) UMNO Youth chief. Gerak Gempur deputy UMNO Youth head. ECM-Libra. PKFZ. Nat Tan. RPK. Rivathy. Temples flattened.
It will take a lot more than sugar-coated words to convince me. First the PM and his govt will have to bikin serupa cakap.
