Something brewing, RPK?

UPDATED VERSION. Seeing it coming? This is what RPK (Raja Petra Kamarudin) published in his column, The Corridors of Power, in Malaysia-Today, July 22:

[...] and this is what the people in the intelligence community tell me [...] blessing and permission to close Malaysia Today down and arrest me.

Thanks for those who put their ears on the ground for alerting me. Monday is still a long day before beers and single-malt are served.

UPDATES: 15:14hr. Five minutes after this blog entry went up, Malaysiakini has an update at 2:46pm:

RPK_Mugshot.jpgUmno today filed a police report against popular political website Malaysia Today.

It is believed that the report filed at the Dang Wangi police station accused the website of featuring articles that insulted Islam.

When contacted, Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohamad Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman confirmed that a report was lodged.

Raja Petra is expected to be investigated under the Sedition Act, Malaysiakini reported.

NEW UPDATES: 15:21hr. An SMS alert from The Star reported at 3:21pm that Umno has lodged police report against Malaysia Today for a July 11 post that the party said insults the King, degrades Islam and incites racial hatred.

Meanwhile, Malaysiakini updated its earlier newsflash and revealed that the police report was filed by Umno information chief Muhammad Muhammad Taib this afternoon. He was accompanied by some 30 people.

Raja Petra, when contacted by Malaysiakini later, declined to comment on the report.

Malaysia Today became inaccessible as at 3:43pm, linking from my node. Error message: "Could not connect to MySQL database." I reckon the site must be knocked out due to sudden surge in visitor traffic that logged in simultaneously.

UPDATES: Malaysia Today has come back on as at 4:19pm, linking from my node, and off again soon after.

NEWER UPDATES: 17:09hr. The Star reported that Umno's police report was lodged under Section 121 (B) and Section 123 of the Penal Code, Section 4 of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 263 and Section 266 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

RPK has earned more respect for islam than most of the umn@ goons combined!

Inaccessible lah, Jeff.

Ish, typo, typo.

Does anyone have any idea just what was written on the 11th that UMNO is b****ing about to the point of lodging a police report?

First, JeffOoi and RockyBru. Then Nat. Now RPK.

Although they are treated differently, some sued, some detained without following procedure, some reported to police.. but desired result is very clear.

Is it time for RPK to move the site abroad and post under a pseudonym that at the same time gives a hint to his identity.

JEFF OOI says: Malaysia Today is currently hosted in Singapore. Isn't Singapore abroad?

Such is the state of affairs.

cheers

Is there any reason why there isn't any police report lodged by rakyat to KJ or Hisham for threatening the racial harmony in the country? Also DPM for making false statement that our country is Islam States.

whatever it is, it goes to show 2 things:

-the bloggers really has followers out there and the govn is having more difficult time selling their stories ...

-the general election is coming ...

god bless bloggers ...

Next we will find, there is no one else left to defend us as we've kept silent for so long.

Let our votes COUNT!

This is the day when i lose any selfrespect for my own country.

No more future, no more freedom.

As at now 5.30pm malaysia-today is still down.

umno is the one that [ DELETED ] the king by declaring this country an islamic state when the constitution says we are secular, umno is the one that [ DELETED ] Islam when you have boorish bocor MP, and closed one eye on MP who are [ DELETED ], and yet display behaviour that is incomprehensible, umno is the one that incite [ DELETED ] by waving the kris and making seditious remarks at every general assembly.

Now you tell me who should be investigated

At 8.30 p.m. Only main page OK... Links to database seems to be lost.

UMNO is desperate to stop their can of worms being spilled out...

50 years of nonsense and this year really is a blast! No one degrades Islam but only those who gv others the ammo to degrade Islam. PPl who are corrupted yet act pious and preached abt it.

This guy will be remembered in history as bapa pemusnah. Single handedly destroyed all what our previous leaders built.

the best part was...they fly to Australia in style to meet PM for this matter using our tax payer money!!!

Everything's OK accessing MT from Hong Kong.

I guess it's being blocked locally.

Friends from SG said that M-kini and M-today is accessible from SG. Does this means that it is only blocked in the country.

Folks

UMNO is running scared.

How come PAS and Keadilan are not taking advantage of the situation. They must be political dumb fools for not doing that... Husam and Anwar are not politically astute after all.

UMNO will be in for a shock for taking on RPK.

As RPK said, he is not a Anak Raja Bugis for nothing...

If we all think that RPK had it coming, it is UMNO who should know what is coming head on them.

Face it folks. RPK is no fool for having the guts to write what he wrote.

Our Malay/Muslim bloggers need to rally behind... its the internet we are protecting now!

Thanks for the hosting information Jeff. I guess I jumped to the conclusion that perhaps they managed to block access because it was locally hosted.

JEFF OOI says: Going by the traceroute, Malaysia Today is hosted in Singapore.

Does anyone know then, why most of the articles are inaccessible, or did RPK do it so that he may not further incriminate himself?

I don't believe that PAS and PKR aren't hatching up ways to cash in on this event. They're probably waiting for more time as opposed to hastily speaking out and then getting everything wrong.

cheers

I can access it from China whole day today.

Only one word to describe these actions by those hopeless bugger. BULLY

Folks

As I said earlier, UMNO Information Chief didn't know what is coming towards him from RPK.

Malaysia-Today might be blocked. Malaysian Unplug had reposted RPK's response to the lodging of the police report. You gotta read it!

I think there is more to come from RPK. UMNO or UMNO Youth better get ready for an opened can of worms coming their way!

I just want to say that the article is a good read and hilarious!

I couldn't help but kept chuckling when he kept referring the UMNO Chief Information as this ex-Menteri Besar with two Muhamads in his name...

:D

...hmmm managed to access it at 923 am today... I am on maxis. maybe it is only blocked via streamyx. My guess the article would be " why muslim are doomed to fail "....496 comments last one dated today....

Mana pergi janggut RPK?

haha, this ex-Menteri Besar with two Muhamads in his name...got so much shit behind his back, wants to defend the Agong and Islam. What a joke. Keep up the good work RPK, we will support you all the way.
