RM88 gross, KL-Sydney one way... Not AirAsia
May 17, AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes was quoted in the international press as saying that his airline's new long-haul offshoot — AirAsiaX — planned to be the first budget carrier to operate between Australia and Malaysia.
According to media hype then, services was to begin on September 8, either to Avalon Airport or Adelaide.
A new round of hot air has just blown today.
RM88 gross, KL-Sydney one way
Jetstar, a budget airline fully-owned by Australian national carrier Qantas Airways, will commence three times a week direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Sydney from September 9.
Jetstar's special one-way web fare for the economy class on the Kuala Lumpur-Sydney route is RM88, exclusive of surcharges, fees and taxes which will add at least RM409.50 per passenger.

The flight will initially operate using the 303-seater Airbus A330-200s offering two classes of service including StarClass, Jetstar's business class, before transitioning to a fleet of 15 new Boeing 787 Dreamliners from August 2008, said Jetstar general manager for marketing David May today.
Jetstar's call centre is at: 1800-813-090.

I personally think AirAsia will still be able to offer a better price.

I've flown JetStar before.. I like their idea of infligh entertainment. For AUD10 (20 on long haul), you can rent a portable media player that has more or less the same content as traditional airlines inflight systems...
pretty good idea.

This facility will be available on airasia x as stated by fernandes. cheaper to maintain than the ones fixed to airline seats.
what this means is that many more poor [ DELETED -- Stop the race-based slur, will ya? ] malaysians, neglected by the government can go and pick apples for a living. Some came back buying properties in KL.

This is just what we need when inflation is rising at an alarming rate! Competitive fares will enable to cool our heads in Asia without shelling out big amounts.

Malaysians are forgetful and naive lot. Very soon they will forget how the trio (KJ/TF/Kali) going to use our tax payer money thru their ECM company to fund for their so called low cost long haul airline /aircraft. They can afford to offer these price it’s because they are using our, I say again our tax payer money!! So as long as offer cheap cheap price, everyone can fRy happily ma..:)
