SMS-scammed 210 times in 17 days
Dear Mr MCMC,
Tomorrow, I will show you the May bill of a Maxis post-paid user Jonathan Wong, who was scammed by one Content Provider a total of 210 times over 17 days, accumulating a total of RM275.00.
Guess which is the Maxis external Content Provider that did the scam job?
Best regards
Jeff Ooi

Hi Jeff, wondering who is the content provider that actually Spammed 217? MacroKiosk again?
Anyway just for your benefit and the community at large, AKN MTECH shortcode has been suspended by all mobile operators for guidelines violation today. I was told by some of my friends working in the mobile operators. I even tested using my mobile to their shortcode 32322 and there is no reply. Therefore I believe it is true that they are being suspended.
Looks like your blog is really influential. The moment I highlight my plight of being overcharged by 32322, the shortcode has been suspended.
Thanks a lot Jeff!
JEFF OOI says: Interesting. I don't who is right and who is wrong but that is not my main concern. This gang-fight among the CPs may ultimately make it easier for MCMC to have a social-responsibility reason to clamp down the entire 3xxxx subscription service -- like the way they did to 600 IVR premium calls formerly. Then we consumers will be better protected from fraud and good CPs or bad CPs will be all dead. Thanks for that, my friend!
UPDATE I: Thank you baba -- whoever you are -- for sending me an SMS at 12:28am and delivered to my handset at 12:31am this morning via +60196000068. Your SMS is revealing to this blog so let me publish it verbatim:

What is there to wait for? Go make a police report la!....Ah, I forgot. All this posturing in the blogs are being made and the mainstream media are yet to pick on it only because all of this is beyond the understanding of our Polis Di-Raja Malaysia....Forget about the AG la. Or are we all also so far not making the necessary police report because this is what we all also belive of the police and the AG? That this theft that is taking place is just beyond them to understand and therefore they will not take action. Are we assuming the same of our judges too and maybe that is why nobody has so far bothered to sue the crooks?

I started reading your blog in early 2003. You have wider influence now ...hope you will remain true to us. There are many people out here who need the kind of help we might get from a 'Micheal Chong' department. I hope the authority will see the benefit of such help centre. It can take away a lot of frustration from Malaysians; it is a proactive governance which will only strengthen Malaysia. Try not to change too much.
