NUJ to government: "Recognise bloggers!"
Screenshots strongly commend the National Union of Journalists Malaysia (NUJM) for making a stand on new media.
In a statement issued in conjunction with World Press Freedom Day today, NUJM president Norila Mohd Daud (Utusan Press) urged the government to acknowledge the existence of internet citizen reporting and blogging as a new media for disseminating information.
She said this online phenomenon had made great impact in the country as an alternative information source on current issues affecting the public.
But I want to applaud NUJM further for making another bold proposition: Introduce Freedom of Information Act to improve the flow of information between the government agencies, the media and the public.

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
