Blogs & impact on corporate reputation

I wonder how may corporate offices are aware that a group of business communicators in KL are seriously looking at this: Blogging Explosion And The Impact On Corporate Reputation?

The topics are significantly relevant to the Big Brands as the thinking crowd is migrating to Internet as their key source of realtime information, such as these:

  • How mass-generated media such as blogs and message boards are affecting corporate reputation

  • The importance of reputation management - and the possible repercussions of not managing corporate
    reputation

  • Do companies pay serious attention to bloggers?

  • Can good Blog Relations actually prevail even with the virulent ones? Will the Bloggers Alliance be the
united body for all communicators to establish good blog relations?

  • The opportunities and risks of blogging, and tips and best practices for dealing with blogs

This blogger will tap into his personal experience and discuss how Bog Brands like Bausch & Lomb, TM and TM Net, and MCMC and the cellular networks, are getting their corporate reputation impaired for neglecting the publics that they need to reach out to.

Other speakers on the panel are former news editor Robert Ho, who is now Principal Communications Counsel, DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd; and Nick Wreden, CEO of Fusion Brand, who is a branding expert with more than 20 years of branding and technology experience with Fortune 500 and other top companies. He is also the author of the best-seller, FusionBranding: How To Forge Your Brand for the Future.

The session will moderated by Astro News anchor and triple-blog blogger, Amir Mahmood Razak ( themalaysiagazette.blogspot.com; mycountrymyspeak.blogspot.com and amirmahmoodrazak.blogspot.com ).

It will be an illuminating experience for me though this would have been the fourth time I spoke to an audience made up of PR experts and business communicators. I also wanted to get feedback on a few questions that I have been looking at in the past, like ( 1 ) Ultimately, do we need Blog Relations? ( 2 ) Can Blog Relations prevail alongside its brothers Media Relations, Investor Relations, Government Relations or Customer Relations?

The event is organised by the Malaysian Chapter of the The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) in conjunction with the IABC Silver Quill Awards 2007 presentation by the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development YB Dato' Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

Date: Friday 25 May 2007

Venue: Hilton Kuala Lumpur
, 3 Jalan Stesen Sentral, KL Sentral
