Dr M: "Use the ballot box to tell the 'rotten' government not all is well;
Or blame yourselves for the government you deserved!"

NEWS FLASH (2:30pm): The stakes have gone up! PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is now campaigning in Ijok!

Looking at the schedule, Abdullah might not have much time for the walkabout, except to visit four operations rooms maintained by Umno (Bukit Gadong), MIC (Dewan Harmoni), MCA and Gerakan (both in Ijok New Village).

The last time a Prime Minister had to campaign in a by-election was the Pengkalan Pasir state constituency in Kelantan, in which BN beat PAS by a razor-thin majority of 134 votes..

* * *

AMANAT DR M. With less than 48 hours to go before polling day, former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the Ijok by-election this Saturday is the right time for the voters to shatter the government’s propaganda that Semuanya OK.

Nevertheless, Dr Mahathir did not outrightly called on the Ijok voters to vote in the Opposition. He urged them to vote wisely. Use your head, he said.

Quotable quotes from the Malaysiakini interview:

THINK CAREFULLY
“If you don’t think (about) what you are doing, you don’t use your vote intelligently, then of course, you are to be blamed.”

“Don’t vote BN blindly, don’t vote PAS blindly, don’t vote DAP blindly. Think. Use your faculties to think.”

SEND THE SIGNAL

“Unless you send a signal to the government that, ‘Look, if you don’t behave yourself, you may not get my vote at the next election,’ then the government will say, ‘You see? The people are voting for us. We are doing well.’

BUY-ELECTION GOODIES
“If you vote (BN) because you get a lot of money or because you get a lot of projects, you may get a rotten government which uses money in order to buy your vote.”

BN SUPPORTERS WHO VOTE BLINDLY

“They (Bn supporters) don't care whether it is a good government or not. We are Barisan people. We vote Barisan. No assessment, no study. We vote (Barisan) because we must. That's why I say a country deserves the government it gets.

“If you don't think (about) what you are doing, you don't use your vote intelligently, then of course, you are to be blamed."

HERO & FALL GUY

“If they win, it’s because of Pak Lah, if they lose, it’s because of (Selangor Mentri Besar Mohd) Khir Toyo.”

Meanwhile, according to Malaysiakini, Tamil Nanban journalist M Yohalinggam, 39, yesterday lodged a second police report against BN candidate K Parthiban for allegedly threatening to finish off his career as a journalist in an incident that happened more than a year ago.

Yohalinggam said he lodged the first report at the same Kuala Selangor police station on March 26, 2006, after Parthiban approached him on that day (March 26) to warn him about an article he wrote in Tamil Kural, the daily he wrote for formerly.

The journalist reportedly said he was afraid that his and his family member’s life could be in danger in the course of covering the Ijok by-election in which Parthiban is a candidate..

Hmm, very interesting but I guess it is a matter of time before the following spinners start correcting our Ex PMs statement, haha:)

"Malaysian government sets up Internet spin team "
http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=39172

Watchout, they might be present in upcoming posts here as well ;)

I think the PKR folks should quickly make some large banners with wording like:

BN Sedia Gempur
Kami Sedia Undi Khalid!

Print some T-shirts for Ijok voters too:

BN Sedia Gempur
Saya Sedia Undi Khalid!

huh? when dr m was the PM, i thought i heard someone said too "use the ballot box to tell the ROTTEN leaders all is not well".

The best thing Dr. M can do now is to go to Ijok tonight and give a speech to the people there!

It is a rotten government alright.

But the rot also started and continued throughout during Dr M's regime and how Dr M's regime emasculated the judiciary and made this racially-imbalanced judiciary into a puppet and politically beholdened "Department of Judges", under the Law Minister.

How this Govt government not on a rule of law but on the rule of fear and it stays in power in the politics of racial divisiveness.

Look at how our Judges had been appointed and promoted. It is not even RACIALLY BALANCE, and more Senior judges, very competent still UNPROMOTED in the High Court while Junior Judges with questionable judicial/legal competence are promoted to the Court fo Appeal and the Federal Court.

And you have the Chief Justice, Tun Fairuz having the cheek to say that he does not need to be transparent on HOW HE PROMOTE JUDGES.

That much you can trust the Judiciary. And these are characters who will sit to judge life and death and your freedom and your rights.

As Lawyer Datuk Zaid Ibrahim said at the debate at the Bar Council, the Judiciary in Malaysia looks like a MALAY DEPARTMEnt in a Govt service.

God help Malaysians who need justice to be done since we all have doubts on whether we can get justice from these judges who we do not know HOW they got Appointed and PROMOTED!!

Despite the obvious on the need for a Judicial Commission to be established to Apppoint and Promote Judges, our present GOVT still refused to establish the Judicial Commission.. and to know why, you have to listen to the IDIOTIC anser given by the defacto Law Minister Mohd Nazri Aziz.

Read the posting below on the debate and the kind of reply by Govt ie why the Govt you all voted in feels it is still not convinced of a Judicial Commission.

Dr M definitely let the rot set in when he was PM but now maybe he is also the only one who can help to clean up the rot.

I suppose he would really know where the dirtiest rot is (or in other words... where to hit where it hurts most)!

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
