Of penis enlargement & "To Russia with Hope"
Doctor-blogger Dr Alan Teh aka PalmDoc -- http://medicine.com.my -- wrote an April Fool joke to humour his readers the way Google did. The topic was enticing: Malaysian men clamouring for pioneering penis surgery.
The good doctor-blogger emailed me early this morning:
I thought the mainstream media didn’t take blogs seriously. For all our previous posts, this year’s April 1 post (under the Humour category) on Malaysian men clamouring for pioneering penis surgery was taken up by the NST on April 5 in the article To Russia with hope.
I am flattered haha. But I would have thought the reporter could have at least got in touch with us to verify the article. Did she not notice the April 1 date?
What can I say, dear KTAK Deputy, if you got the wrong thing enlarged and the male libido shrunk?
Join Parti Undi Rosak, acronym Pundak?

Growing penises on the arm, walaueh...and if one didn't make the connection on the publish date, then one is a fool indeed! I wonder if NST is malu of being made one.

I think this doctor actually got off luckily. It's stupid to do something like that and hide behind the "April Fool" to escape. Furthermore it's a medical blog.

You mean to say a medical blog must only comprise dull and dry posts and be totally devoid of humour? Lighten up man. There was no hiding here, it was clearly posted under the humour category.
Here, take a look at more humour we have for you :P

Have a nice day!
JEFF OOI says: The crux of the matter is this: Verify the facts with the source(s). That's the cardinal rule for the mainstream editors who, incidentally, had been shouting down at bloggers to be RESPONSIBLE!

It won't be the first time a mainstream media reported news without checking its sources. A similar one by some pranksters on April Fools Day, reported that California was giving away free vascetomies to fat people so they wouldn't reproduce fat offspring in return. And many mainstream media (American) bought it hook, line and sinker.
Proves things aren't so different this side of the ocean.

Might I add that if anyone insists on taking something posted under "humour" seriously, then they definitely need organ enhancement - and I refer to the one between their ears :P
