Ijok... Stop this 'Sedia Gempur' hooliganism... ( 2 )
Award-winning photographer Paul Choo could have become a blind if not for his quick reflex.

Screenshots-exclusive picture by Jeff Ooi
Paul and I were on a photo-essay assignment to cover the Ijok by-election on April 21. We were surrounded by a group of over 20 rowdy youths clad in the white Pemuda BN attire after having lunch with Khalid Ibrahim in Simpang Ijok.
The both of us, plain clothes civilians who had no link to KeADILan nor Umno, became the target of the hooligans.

IDENTIFIED... The plump in white was the person who disrupted our lunch,
and later emotions provoked, fracas followed... Picture courtesy a Screnshots reader
Paul was assaulted by one of them who poked his eyes with the sharp end of an unopened bottle of mineral water at close range. He bled and required medical attention. Read Malaysiakini, Oriental Daily News and Lim Kit Siang on this.
For the record, Paul, who was hurt an innocent by-stander through no sin of his, has decided to speak up for the love of his beloved country. It's in his blog -- Talks + Photos -- is available here:
The Day I Nearly Died In The Hands Of The Umno Youth Hooligans
In his first-hand-account, he will tell you that, over the years as a born-Malaysian, he has travelled the nooks and corners of Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak, in pursuit of his photography work and never once had he ever been intimidated or harassed by local folks even in the deepest of rural kampung villages.
Let the photo do the talking: This is the kind of warmth the Malay brethren showered him when he was just a stranger to Kelantan in January 2006.

Peace in Kota Baru... Picture courtesy Paul Choo
I ask you to reflect on a westerner's perspectives on fascist America, the same shouldn't be allowed to exist in Malaysia.
You simply can;t wage a 'Gempur' sub-culture against your own countryman in our civilisational value system. Mat Rempit in politics truly reflects very badly of the quality of leadership in this country, and it will not augur well for our future if allowed to simmer on.
Read a prayer when you next speak to God that Mat Rempit hoologanism should not exist in Malaysian democracy.
Keep this blog for the coming General Election should your conversation with God be disturbed by bad signal coverage.
Comments
Scary thought indeed. If Mat Rempits are given this kind of power to intimidate and harass people then one day (God forbid!) who will stop them from committing heinous crimes? For just a measly few ringgit these Mat Rempits will do anything for BN. We ARE actually imitating Zimbabwe and other African countries ruled by 'em despicable despots! Better nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand...

Hundreds of Mat Rempit of the Pemuda Umno Empire will fall upon you...our mineral bottles will blot out the sun.
Then we will vote in the shades.

Make my blood boils! I see these kind of punks loitering around towns and shopping malls. Why can't the government just let they stick to selling DVDs and CDs at pasar malam and kopi shops with a smile? We must be the most moronic critizens to prepetuate such gangsterism.

Though I don't support any kind of rowdy behaviour but to say -"The Day I Nearly Died In The Hands Of The Umno Youth Hooligans" - is still a bit of exageration on Paul's part.
Can the other side of the story please respond?
It is really difficult for me to belive that people will simply hit innocent bystander - even for Mat Rempit

For me it's not a surprise. "Hooliganism" is not a new UMNO subculture. It has been synonym with Pemuda UMNO back in the sixties. They used to use "parang" to intimidate. They just keep changing their weapon...the latest is mineral water bottle. Hmm.. quite an evolution from "parang" to "plastic bottle".

hitmans, kaki pukul, konco2, taikos, mande, kongsi gelap all are related with politics. Without the 'human resource' , the politicians at the top can't really work their way out, no matter how dirty it is.
I was there in Ijok on the nomination day, yes, I saw the same plump guy with the similar white shirt, surrounded by the great Scorpion fellas. They are certainly not mat rempits. mafia more like it.

if you actually look at the criteria listed in the "Fascist American in 10 steps" article that Jeff mentioned, you will see that we score about 70-80% on the key points listed. woo hoo, Malaysia Boleh. at least that's one thing we're good at - being a fascist country!
p.s. aredale, you're comment was awesome. lol.

it's such a sad things to see everyone was desperate for a vote. they promised that they would help us when they had won the election but after they had won, we cant see anyone of them at all. issit for the good of the people or the good of one self?
looking at the tv and newspapers, they just show the good side of the bn's but kept finding the bad things of the oppositions. it's not into politics but i can clearly sees that things are not fair at all.
talk about mat rempits, i think they wont get into hungers since they had a 'big nanny' to take care of them as long as they are eligible to vote (every votes counts).
for this case, even if u all made a police reports, i dont think there would be any difference. too many forgotten cases happened and i assume this would be one of them. u can see how easy for the bn to make fun of the opposition. i do agree that opposition could not make much difference if they were elected but is there any difference if the bn was elected? jus think.....
read more silly promises on the tv and the papers.....we were silly after all we're all malaysian....

What's happening to us? What's happening to the country? Even with so many anggota polis. Even in broad daylight.
Ijok will be the new beginning. Ijok will be the start of rakyat's fightback. Let the bottles come. Let them taste defeat from their current orgy.

whoa!! scary!
this should be made known to as many people as possible. since the mainstream media will surely not report about it, so all those on the net should blog about it or send mass email on this matter to everybody they know with email.
everybody ought to know the true colours of umno youth so that they'll think twice during election (but will they?).

Extracted from the book “To Digress A Little”by Syed Akbar Ali and I quote:
"In the book Lee Kuan Yew – The Man And His Ideas (Han, Fernandez and Sumiko pg 256), Mr. Lee says, “One great obstacle of a rapid and orderly political development of Malaya has bee and still is the Malayan habit of ignoring unpalatable facts and avoiding unpleasant controversy”. This is a sad but true observation by Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. What is devastating is that Mr. Lee made this observation in January 1950 – 55 years ago – when he was among other Malayans struggling for Independence.
How are we going to bring about effective change if even after 55 years we avoid tackling difficult issues head on? And now the present Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi has been identified with a “feel good” mentality. To him everything should be “feel good”. Don’t rock the boat. Don’t ask difficult questions. Everything is ok. Maybe if we bury our heads deep enough in the sand, all our problems will go away."
55 years of bolehism later, how much Malaysia has achieved; that picture of "Man In Black" says it all!

I'm glad that you also included the photo taken in Kelantan. In a small way it shows that things in Kelantan are not what our mainstream media would like malaysians to believe.
