Ijok... Last 48 hours

Daulat Tuanku! Today is the installation of the 13th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong.

If all federal level BN leaders were attending the Royal Banquet in KL tonight, the Opposition will have a field day by having the entire Ijok to themselves for ceramah. There are obstacles, though.

According to Malaysiakini.tv yesterday, the authorities can cancel the ceramah at their absolute discretion.

Seasoned politician and Parliamentary Opposition Leaders Lim Kit Siang, whose ceramah at Ijok was stopped by the Kuala Selangor OCPD, said he had never been stopped in delivering his ceramah by the Police -- citing 'illegal gathering' as the ground -- throughout his over 4o years experience in active Malaysian politics.

Yesterday, he got hold of Johari Baharum, the deputy Internal Security Ministry, to visit the OCPD in Kuala Selangor. Subsequently, it was agreed that all notices of ceramah served on the Police by 12.00 noon daily will be allowed to proceed.

Yesterday, the Malaysian chapter of Amnesty International issued a statement saying that selective denial of public gatherings at Ijok has undermined human rights.

SUARAM (Suara Rakyat Malaysia), another human rights NGO, had issued similar statement a day earlier.

The 9-day campaigning in Ijok shall end by 11:59pm, April 27. That's less than 48 hours from now.

BN has this massive machinery working on the ground with the country's mass media churning out furious reports about BN's impending win in Ijok and yet opposition's right for ceramah is denied over and over again on permit matter. Not a single BN ceramah has ever been denied and news on TVs only reported BN's propaganda. Despite all this, Still BN is afraid it will lose this by election hence using low tactics to deny the most basic right of a candidate contesting in an election, the right to ceramah.

It is like you can't win the race, so let's break the opponent's leg.

This is so bloody kiasu.
