Astro cannot charge subscribers for decoder repair, says Keng Yaik
We didn't teach him that. The Minister said it by himself.
But if you hear Astro charging subscribers for fixing reception problems following the use of its new satellite, lodge complaints with the industry regulator -- Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). That's what the Minister wanted you to do.

Good job, Datuk Seri!
As for ASTRO, their so-what attitude speaks volumes about the company.
There have been so many complaints about their endless repeats and more repeats of documentaries, but so what? Still the norm... I must have come across some documentaries 10 times or more. And can probably add to the total in the future.
Just what are we paying ASTRO for?
And in February, Channel 13 just vanished - "no channel at this number" displayed. No notice, and the February program guide still listed the channel. What did ASTRO customer service say? "Contract for the channel ended, so it has been cancelled since beginning of February."
It was part of the ASTRO package we signed up for, was it not?

You said it Jeff. Astro should not be charging subscribers for fixing reception problems following the use of its new satellite. Lodge complaints with the industry regulator -- Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). That's what the Minister wanted you to do.
And Channel 13 is TV Pendidikan, the subscription for which is over.
Astro, why not renew it.

I guess this is what we Malaysians are paying for the price of monopoly, in terms of expensive monthly charges and bad services. In Vietnam, full channel subscription (more than 70 channels) of pay TV cost less than RM10/mth only... we're are even worst that those 3rd world country!!!

3rd world country? I can hear Vietnam's breathing now and may be soon breathing down our necks.... and Thailand's nose is threateningly edging ahead of ours. We'll be wondering where we are after our pockets and accounts are high and dry...

Astro, Astro, Astro...
Malaysian companies and customer service just somehow don't gel.
When Astro became listed, suddenly the focus became the bottom-line ONLY. In the past, customer satisfaction was always high on the list.
Did anyone notice the Media Prima advertisement on Federal Highway? In bold, it says, "Watch in Free, Even When It Rains" or something to that effect!
I know a lot of people who are Astro-less. They seem ordinary.
If Astro was to lose 500,000 customers over a period of a month for a year, what would happen?
Will they change? Any takers?

I thought that this monopoly of Astro was going to end with MiTV coming into the scene??
Unfortunately, we are going to be stuck with ASTRO for a long long time.
I think we need foreign cable companies to come in. Then, we can really see some difference.
I hate the small letters/numbers at the right hand middle side of the screen. I wonder what is that for?

Hey, people - be thankful!
My friend is paying S$120.00 (that's RM276.00) per month for his Starhub Cable TV subscription in Singapore. That gives him access to something like 50 channels only.
But, on the flipside, Starhub offers a high-speed broadband Internet access service (cable-based) in Singapore at a mouth-watering 100Mbps for S$120.00 per month.
Now if only the good Datuk Seri LKY could do something like this.....
