We are slaves to Pak Lah's government.
Squeezed dry left and right to afford Penerbangan Malaysia Berhad's latest acquisition of RM200million+ jet. Which is leased back from the left hand to the right hand of the government.
I guess most of us taxpayers and voters must be sleeping as well.

As much as I feel for the Rakyat's pain over the increase in toll and petrol prices, I believe the goverment is making a right step, though an unintentional one, in reducing greenhouse gases levels in our country.
We as a country are too dependent on Oil and our thrist for it is as obsence as the Americans. If you don't want the floods like in Johor to happen in the other parts of the country and the money from the toll hike to go into corrupt hands.. PLEASE please i beg you to take the bus or train to work. let us all reduce our carbon footprint.. to find out more go to www.carbonplanet.com

Are we getting anywhere with these protests?

robin hood:
Perhaps you think a robin hood for Malaysian would be more useful than holding protests. However, please understand the concept of 'collective wisdom of crowd'. The reality doesn't work like the Hollywood(or Bollywood) movies where there is some special hero rescueing the humanity. You can't expect the protest to force the government to bring down the tolls tomorrow, but you have to know that it has created the impact/awareness among the people so that they would put more consideration before they vote in the next election.
Of course, I understand that people like you(who thinks any effort is futile) will claim that there is no point to vote too, because there is no fair election.
So do you think we should just sit at home and let the country get rotten 1 day by 1 day?

We take action against robbers of jewelery stores but let much bigger crooks - in terms of money quantum -
like the crony Toll Gate Operators, AP crooks etc steal much much bigger sums w/ teh connivance of "our" govt leaders.
As a nation we would get a much better economic rate of return on taking action against the our crooked BNputra / UMNOputra leaders and their cronies and even murderers - remember Altantuya? - than against these store robbers, snatch theives etc. - not to say we shouldn't act against them.
But we need to get our priorities right.
We need wholescale reform of our police, political, executive, legislative systems and the judiciary
- the country is just too Ducked up.

The awareness and highlights of all the protests were effective as the LDP Toll collection has registered a 15% drop in volume of traffic and therefore revenue for them since the hike. The people have spoken and taken action in NOT using the LDP tolled way and AVOIDING it if necessary.
The police refused “to close one eye” and refused to release those detained immediately stating that all arrested have to follow the procedures to complete the process. For more info & other pictures check it at:

greetings hazri,
the government should also join the call to reduce greenhouse gases themselves by accomodating to use of lower CC vehicles and also by curbing lesser wastage to public funds.
to give the people the REAL ALTERNATIVE to their cars/bikes, give PEOPLE REAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT services just like Singapore ...
It is no use talking about curbing greenhouse gases when the powers-that-be themselves are not committed to their own doing
cheers

Steve,
don't get me wrong... I was there on most of the protests, except the last one in IOI because of work. Yes... I need to work more now because of the pirates of the carriBN. I even brought my one year old son who was enjoying all the hoo-hah.
Were you there??? How many ppl actually take action, then just posting their thoughts on blogs. ACTION speaks louder than words! Blogs are read by "online rakyats". I am sad that the crowd was not as big as anticipated.... There are thousands of hits on Jeffooi, Rocky's bru, Malaysiakini, Malaysia today... but few hundred turn up for protests... But hey, I am not going to stop going to protests that I think would not benefit the rakyat. I just hope more ppl would respond. So, please do not judge someone just because u do not have enough information. I know u r angry.... so do I... and many other concerned rakyats

Oops, you went there too, cease fire! (friendly fire, ;p )
Yes, I were there. I also went to most of the protests except the Cheras one(couldn't find the place).
In fact I have also taken some photos and uploaded to http://www.lensamalaysia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3558&page=11 (my account there=yusiang)
It is always hard to be the initiator/pioneer. People might even categorize you as the aggresive-acting ppl or after-meal-nothing-to-do ppl. For me, just do the thing that you think it's right(or don't do it if it is wrong). There is a chinese phrase which means 'throw brick get jade' (very blunt translation hehe).

Good photos there Steve. How come these photos are not on our mainstream media??? The prostitute called Media is being pimped by the Govt.
The right thing to do is to get rid of the prostitutes and pimps who are governing the nation! ;D

Hazri,
I would like to take public transport. The public transport is as screwed as "almost" everything here. Smokers which contribute to the greenhouse effect won't even have time to finish a stick while waiting for the public transport in Singapore.
