Responsible journalism

Since theSun mentioned nothing about the real threat to the future of journalism as it went to 'define' misused blogs today, I hope someday, there are journalists from Malaysia who are courageous enough to write, or at least chronicle, about responsible journalism, if only just for balance.

BTW, I just read Rocky's Bru, and took glimpses of A. Kadir Jasin's thoughts, hours before Rocky's interparte injunction is up for hearing at 10am tomorrow.

I understand that, combined, they had served for over four decades in the same old media institution. How are they feeling now?

Jeff:

Is there anyway we can contribute to the blogger's fund? You have my support. Btw, I have stopped buying NST since the early 90s & I have also stopped buying The Star on weekdays since 2004 General Election. Who needs them anyway...I think we need to get more people to boycott all these useless mainstream newspaper & let's see how their revenue can go down. So long for Cemerlang, gemilang & terbilang...Podah!

Does not reporting a news worthy event or happening and something that should be a factor in the citizen's view of his or her leaders considered responsible journalism? Like, was it responsible journalism that saw the other two English media stay silent on the Zakaria Deros case until such time a comment as made by a higer up in the UMNO leadership? Until then was it irresponsibe journalism that underlined The Sun's expose? Eusof Chin's New Zealand holiday never happened according to all the print and broadcast media. Was that responsible journalism? Do these publications know that responsible journalim or irresponsible not only is in respect of what is published but also on what is omitted? (Hey, Jeff I did not name NST anywhere over here...still going to DELETE?)

I am no law expert and so are many other news reader. Believe me, we know what we are reading. We can identify junks and nonsenses pretty well.

So, all experts, please stop using all those bombastic words trying to justify despicable acts. It doesn't help at all. We know what we are seeing.

Jeff. Apologies, but I had to take a Tangent. I hope it doesn't screw up your defence.
