New year new plane?
How much is VIP ACJ 319, a derivative of Airbus 320, plus fittings and trimming made to Swiss standards? How much can the Boeing 737-700, Bombardier Global Express and Falcon 900 Executive Jet be traded off at book value?
See Airliners.net for the owner of this ACJ319.
If the news is true, 9M-A13 could be a nice call-sign to replace AAB 13. Admittedly, we are still a long way before Nero sings while Rome burns.

What a waste of public money if its true. Didin't mahathir use the falcons for his holiday in europe last year when he landed in Subang and continued his rhetoric against badawi???
Our government have got their priorities upside down. Even Tony Blair uses british airways flight overseas. Cheaper to charter short term than buy and store.

WTF! WTF! WTF!
Talk about educating the public about financial management. We are better of without their examples, certainly better of them, the hyenas.

Change your lifestyle? Cakap tak serupa bikin.
Heck, the only way to register your protest is to vote in a larger number of opposition in Parliament the next time round.
Otherwise, those in power thinks only a moral minority are the vocal ones, and the large majority of the rakyat are okay with these.

By comparison, Canadian PM only flies Bombardier Challenger series (medium size). For extended trip, they fly in an old A310 which is also used for transporting regular military personnels and equipment.
Even during the best of time we should keep the Boeing BBJ (still very new and more spacious) and Falcon 900 for the highest echelon. For the rest, a few used cessna citations or learjets (USD1-3 million each) are more than enough. The citations and learjets must be put to other uses too.

200 million ringgit and just for VIP use? Crazy, let's see if the truth/rebuttal comes out in the mainstream media.

I believe the 737 Boeing Business Jet was delivered in 1997, and probably hasn't got anywhere near the mileage which an airliner would get. If well maintained, this plane would be still in excellent condition.
Why does he have to replace the plane now ? There are so many more pressing needs for the country.

It was told that the Malaysia government will wet lease from a Bumiputra company , and not buying it. The reason behind of the new plane is because the current planes are all registered under Air Force Entity, ie Military Registration; maintainance by RMAF and the pilot is from RMAF. With the VVIP military plane status, it is difficult to have clearance on certain routes. So , decided to have new plane with civilian registered status , civilian pilot.
A question is: Why cant just change the current jets' registration , lebih senang kan... macam tukar kereta company to kereta persendirian saja...

Hi guys & bloggers,
Please be careful particularly on this plane news and that US$50 billion news. Due to the 'deep-throat' advice, I can't tell you the reason now, just don't fall into the trap.

What to do?? People still vote for BN & I'm pretty damn sure that when this Sunday comes, BN will win the Batu Talam by election with a land slide & of course even if the general election is held today, BN will still win more than 2/3 of the seats. I guess, you vote for monkey you get the givernment of the monkeys:) So long for Gemilang, Cemerlang & terbilang:)

Most likely a replacement for the old Fokker 28 bird.It is fine if a government VIP uses a gov transport. For record, Singapore only uses Fokker 50s as VIP transport, Thailand uses old A310 fr royal transport or a VIP C-130 and the prime minister of UK either flies commercial or chartered BA.

hi jeff,
been roughly following this airplane purchase saga. good work on bringing issues like this out in the open.
on another note, i hope the publicity this thing is generating will at least force the policy makers to use their heads before allegedly misusing public funds.
then again, i doubt it will deter the *esteemed* politicians from ever wasting the rakyat's money in trying to a gain on something that will only benefit so few people! that is why it hurts so bad to pay tax! not because its already high enough but seeing how it ultimately benefits just so few people.
just a thought...i wonder if the plane purchase is related in any way to the huge air asia airbus order? is tony fernandes 'helping out'? *interesting wouldn't it be?
*keep blogging jeff...
