That Turkish Boat

That RM30 million Turkish boat that Rocky's Bru exposed December 18.

December 20, Abdullah Badawi said the Hurriyet report was a lie. "I was in Turkey but (I) did not see the boat," the PM explained, stating that he would ask the Turkish newspaper to make a correction..

December 27, Bernama published a statement from Kobra Yatcilik Turizm ve Turizm Limited Co., the Turkish yachting and tourism company implicated by Hurriyet, which denied that Abdullah has placed an order for the construction of a RM30 million yacht.

Interestingly, Kobra didn't deny nor confirm another portion of the Hurriyet story, which has been translated as follows:

Badawi and his friend (Ananda) Krishan went to Gokova for fishing with a luxury motor yacht belonging to Kremala Holding, which was brought over here (Bodrum) from Malta.

December 28, Rocky's Bru asked:

If the Hurriyet had lied in its Dec 17 report, as the PM himself said here, the PM's office should be the one challenging the report and demanding a correction and an apology.

For good measure, the letter should also state why Abdullah Badawi was in Bodrum in the first place.

Meanwhile, Screenshots commenter/blogger A M Ubaidah S argues that the crux of the issue is "all about how Pak Lah can afford a RM30 Million dollar Turkish-built yacht". His salary and regular income may not justify it, but there may be other means. And the blogger, a Malay Muslim Professional, suggests some:
- Means 1: Civil Service Perks = Past Investments
- Means 2: The Traditional Way Of Making Money = Inheritance!
- Means 3: The Filial Way Of Making Money - His Rich Kid(s?)!

...if Pak Lah bought a boat with his own cash, what exactly is wrong with that?

Mahathir has a yacht, right?

if someone did their job well and they enjoyed their life, we wont bother about it.

but if someone did not do their job well and still could enjoy, we should make a fuss about it.

dr. m, to me he is one of the smartest man in malaysia. how he invest his money, i think he has his own way. but....the current one, besides making excuses n empty promises, he is nothing.

how can he make 30mil in these few yrs? no one knew except himself and Him.

lovehurts,

maybe his son-in-law and son bought him a birthday present.

Whatever means are used (legal or otherwise) to acquire wealth and yachts are worldly pursuits and will end in sorrow. The Pope recent message was loud and clear : “May they all experience the light of love, which mankind needs so much more than the material necessities of life” In short, worship God and NOT Technology.
The more we identify ourselves with material knowledge and possessions, the less we know how great we are. Some who have a lot of intellectual knowledge find it harder to meditate and harder to attain the higher wisdom than less educated simple people because these people have less to wash away, less to disentangle or “un-knot.”
The appeals by the Pope & the Queen on Christmas Day for more religious understanding, peace and justice are noble indeed but would all be in vain, fruitless without achieving the desired results. How can we unentangled our minds with a mass of knowledge or habits that we call "I” and to look beyond it to see at the at the real thing? To be enlightened and observe and understand things so easily.
