Pak Khiaq (1923 - 2006)
I had the rare opportunity of singing him an R. Azmi number, Terkenang Semasa Dulu, a song that my late father had taught me. Pak Khiaq, the Kedah old boy, told us some jokes in return. That was many, many years ago at a dinner function in Sungai Petani.
Pak Khiaq was a fine, secular man who didn't have to hide behind a fake, pious front.
He passed away yesterday. He was accorded a state funeral at Masjid Negara. Al-Fatihah.
Eulogies in Rocky's Bru, TV Smith and The Star.

Our deepest condolences must be to the family. But many who lived into the ripe old age of eighties or their nineties and appreciated the extent of the beauty of their being seem to be aware of the withdrawing of life force (energy) and their impending death. He is an example according to his wife. A great MAN WHO Refused Titles in Politics His breed of UMNOputras are getting extinct very soon.

Hi Jeff,
I like the pantun very much, very touchy and sentimental.
Here go another old gentleman of UMNO, who truly believe in the concept of Malaysia and a secular one.
Here I weep not because he is a stateman (of cousre he is) but because he represents the now very few good men that we have.
Rest in peace Pak Khir.

I remember him as the backbone of the badminton squard which triumphed under his wings.
May the good merits he had gathers is sufficient to place him in a honourary realm.

berakit bertemu lautan,
bersakit demi kebebasan,
dialah penyala kemerdekaan,
seorang insan berdarah pahlawan.
Takziah to family members. Al-fatihah.

My condolences to the family. May God give you the courage during this difficult time. I weep for Malaysia who has lost a good leader who practiced Bangsa Malaysia spirit and stuck by his only wife and family. So unlike the-now UMNOputras. I truly hope his children will continue to carry his torch for him and for Malaysia.
