A tribute to Alex Yoong
It rained heavily during the A1GP at Sepang Circuit yesterday. But it was a storming drive by Alex Yoong, which saw him finish seventh in an action-filled Feature Race. He had finished fourth in the earlier Sprint Race.

The points collected from the two events resulted in A1 Team Malaysia improving to joint third in the overall A1GP World Cup of Motorsport standings.
Alex, in my eyes, is a true-bled Malaysian who takes hurdles by the horns, so many times over and never says die. So is his net-savvy mentor-father, Hanifah Yoong, whom I managed to say hello to yesterday.
I have a 15-shots series to pay tribute to Alex Yoong, all taken yesterday from up-close. It's in the LensaMalaysia Forum.

JEFF OOI says: Aaaah, didn't realise you were there, too. Judging from the circuit angle, you must be at the grandstand facing Turn 2. I was right across the track during the first 5 laps of the Feature Race before I covered other angles. Cheers!

Alex has been given a raw deal when in his short F1 career was criticised by many without the inner knowledge of F1 racing issues/difficulties !
Now with A1 the variables are more controled because of the standardisation of the racing car and we can see that Alex is actually a good thinking driver as reflected in our current overall 3rd placing after Sepang last week!
Well done Alex and the whole team ! We are certainly watching you !

Apologetic to point this out but Alex is actually among Malaysia’s earliest ‘astronaut’, i.e. people sent into a project which is totally over their head (F1 in his case) where tones of Government funds are utilized just for the sake of ‘Malaysia Boleh’ and nothing else.
Still Alex, we are proud of your A1 achievements.

Yup was at grandstand facing the hairpin, bit far for my poor 90mm!
