During his managerial, his players never really listened to him, so you’d think the old man would be used to that sort of thing by now, but we can’t say we’ll miss his vapid mutterings too much anyway.

Actually England is not that good. They are over rated and the supporters also inflat the chances, thinking the team really can win the World Cup.
Eriksson sometimes clueless and screw up on decision. But he is a good coach. But made mistake taking Theo Walcott to world cup when 2 of their strikers not fully fit.
But anyway, even he bring 5 strikers, England gonna lose anyway. Penalty shootout, portugal misses 2 penalty and you still cannot win! What else you want?

The news is direct CnP (Copy and Paste) from AFP. It seems the star editor just take the news as it and didn't bother to read it before publish it on the web.

The English soccer team is mediocre in my view. Been like this for years. The EPL is great though because the top teams are stuffed with foreign stars. I'm not a fan of Eriksson either but I must say he is the first English coach who speaks better English than any of the players! He will be missed.

One day I complained about the number of typos and other errors in the Star to someone who works at said tabloid and asked what their proofreaders do all day. Guess what?
They DO NOT HAVE proofreaders.
That aside, whats wrong with quoting the man? The paper is telling it as it is. If you take offence at the language, take it up with the man who said it. Though you may likely get the bird flipped at you.
