Umno and strong/weak leadership at the pinnacle
New phenomena are emerging in Umno leadership. Is the current leadership strong or weak? You have to read the signs, and here are some.
The whole weight of the party machinery and alleged involvement of civil bureaucracy had to be invoked in order to stop Dr Mahathir from getting elected as a national delegate.
The Son-in-Law was allowed to repeatedly play the racial card make MCA and Gerakan the bogeyman for marginalising the Malays.
The Father-in-Law asked for a stop to the demand for the rotation of the Penang Chief Minister's post, and battlecry razes on.
Umno Kepong now demands BN to take back the parliamentary constituency currently allocated to Gerakan.
And pitting MCA and Gerakan against each other, Umno Kepong says the Kepong constituency should be given to MCA!.
Meanwhile, Umno Bandar Tun Razak now demands to take back the parliamentary constituency currently allocated to MCA.The demand was made in the presence of Umno deputy chief Najib Abdul Razak with the incumbent MP Tan Chai Ho standing next to him!
'Malaysia mudah lupa'
Nobody recalls the aftermath of the 1999 general election where Umno hopefuls were scambling for mixed contituencies wth more Chinese contituents -- an ironic sign during constituency re-delineation process that prepared for the 2004 general election.
Whether the current pinnacle of Umno leadership is in a position of strength or vulnerability, the signs will come from the grassroots and the demand they make. Just watch out. But the Razak Hussein way of 'consensus politics' molded through Barisan Nasional is now taking a heavy beating. The de facto 'proper channel' for demands is currently through the Umno-controlled press. It's all linked to the gravy train.

So, still think the PM vs ExPM debacles a good thing?
Now, the YAB is so undermined by the whole sandiwara that he has no choice but to abide to every whims and whines of the hardliners in that party. Hey, you scratch my back…..

A resounding YES. The PM vs exPM is the best thing to happen for politics and democracy in this country.
It serves to highlight the pathetic shamelessness and lack of principles of people who are into politics for self interest instead of idealism.
It cries out for a third way and at this point in time, Anwar Ibrahim is the only hope.
Think South Africa. Think Mandela. Think Rainbow Coalition.

Seems like UMNO has a short memory. The BN component parties should just split away from BN and form their own alliances and contest against any parties that is out for their race or religion only. Now UMNO is pitting Gerakan and MCA. What's next? MIC?
Like I have stated before, those who uses religion and race as as subject in their political campaigning, should be throw in jail and the ISA used against them. But, I guess these ain't happening so does this means that some parties in the govt is supporting or condoning such action?
Lesson learnt here shows you just cannot trust those who are "seperti kacang melupakan kulit".

UMNO does not show any signs of wanting to be fair to the other components of BN and the other races in the country. For example from wanting the CM's post of Penang and demanding the constituencies now assigned to other components under the now infamous "BN spirit" for itself. Is there no limit that the other components will stoop just to be in BN and hold ministerial and post? Have some dignity, dear MCA,MIC, Gerakan etc.
Let UMNO have all, walk out with some dignity, if there is any left. Can you not see the writing on the wall that UMNO cares two hooks about you.
The DPM has advised DR KOH to be the CM for all Penangites. How come he did not extend the same advice to all the M.B's of all other states ruled by BN except Kelantan to take care of the nonmalays in those states and be fair to them socio-economically speaking? Are there no poor Chinese,Indians,Ibans,Kada zans in those States?
Need I say more!

Well said, KSN. DPM should "remind" the rest of MBs in Malaysia regarding this since he already advised Penang CM. Be fair enough not only ping point on Penang, right?
I really sick to SON-IN-LAW's statements and incidents happened in Penang. I seriously doubt what the SON-IN-LAW had "learned" during his studies in Oxford University.

To me, UMNO is a 忘恩負義 party, they never appreciate what the rest of its component parties have contributed to BN.
Have some dignity. MCA,MIC, Gerakan and the rest of the BN componet parties should leave BN and join the opposition and let UMNO have all.

BN is dismantling itself under Pak Lah leadership.
Pak Lah is loosing grips on matters. UMNO is fast losing its credence, relevance, and support.
I'd say, yes, disassociate from UMNO. The lost souls should be taught some lessons. As long as Islam is not touched, better than giving in to leaders who seems bent on selling and fooling us lock, stock, and barrel.
But no to Keadilan.

Jun 2004: MCA-Gerakan Merger Meeting
Top leaders of both MCA and Gerakan met over lunch at the MCA Headquarters today to discuss plans to merge both parties. The meeting was the first one jointly chaired by MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting and Gerakan's Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik following its elevation to the presidential level in May. Previously, the meeting were headed by deputy-presidents from both parties.
p/s: MCA & Gerakan deserved what they get.

It has become abundantly clear that BN has lost its initial mission and appeal and is dangerously steering the country in a downward spiral on all fronts. Quality of education (lower and higher) have deteriorated; social equality is almost non-existant; local authorities are wasting precious taxpayers monies without any remorse; legal system has lost its independence; social integration is sacrificed due to religious fanaticism; "toothless" component members in the BN are told to toe the line etc etc.
An alternative political party needs to be formed, a coalition perhaps, open to all who subscribe to a single philosophy. Think Labour vs Conservatives; Republicans vs Democrats. A party that is deviod of race and religion can be led by the person that is most capable within its ranks. I would give my vote to such a party. Anything can't be worse off than the current ruling party. I would even go as far as giving my vote to PAS if it boils down to just a vote between these two. This will send a strong message that enough is enough.

Did you read Nazri's definition of a leader's success??
Got to be supported by UMNO
Got to have the loyalty of UMNO members.
Got to be ...whatever...of UMNO/Members!!!....
Well maybe that is why you find all who join UMNO remain destined to be led until armageddon.

All these happened the day the component parties (MCA, MIC, Gerakan, etc) let go of their seat as "Partners" in BN and settled as the role of "Sub-ordinates" for UMNO.
Now they are stucked. They know UMNO is not acting in the best interest of everyone, rakyat is complaining and yet they can't say a thing. Why? Because the person who will decides who will compete for any seat in the next election is non-other then the PM, the head BN and head of UMNO, their BOSS.
The BN spirit created by our fore-fathers which emphersise power sharing is long gone. The current BN we now have is basically UMNO & it's SURORDINATES parties.
At current stage, these so called Component Parties is DEAD WOOD and a BURDEN to the community that they say they represent. Our only hope is they either break away from BN or some new political parties emerged and replaced BN.

Beyond susurrations of dissent about umno's new hardline, all the other parties, opposition AND the MCA, MIC and Gerakan, should now come together. Let the meeting precipitate a reaction from the hardliners of umno so that Badawi as chief of the BN will have to drop his prissy equivocation and make a stand. That will force in a new inflection point for the political landscape of this country.
All who are in but have remained moribund should be ready to walk out of the BN to make it what it has all along been, a one-party coalition in all but name.
This is an EiE situation.
Enough-is-enough.

This is actually a sign of AAB losing control of UMNO. All the while, seats were negotiated under BN. But now it seems like open season for demanding for seats
And Tan Chai Ho..has no response????
Why don't they disband/dissolve BN and let the individual parties compete on their own banners. Maybe then we will see how much support or seats UMNO can win on its own. Like it or not, UMNO needs Gerakan and MCA votes and a few MIC votes to keep them in power.

Folks
It all goes to show that MCA was not only circumcised but got castrated by UMNO.
MCA? Mandarins Castrated Association. If you see their performance in the face of UMNO's onslaught on them. These rich towkdays running MCA get rough-ridden and raped politcally in public by UMNO Youth punks. And after that, the MCA will apologise for the obscene behaviours of UMNO Youth.
Gerakan's tongue was taken out and made into a soup for Gerakan members to drink. Just look at Dr Lim Keng Yaik, each time he opened his mouth to the press to criticise UMNO, he had to take it back and say he was misquoted.

UMNO mudah lupa. UMNO has forgotten about the BN spirits, UMNO has forgotten about BN would never be BN today without the co-operation of all component parties and UMNO has forgotten about history of the Malacca Sultanate where corruption, abuses of power and arrogance brought down the whole empayar.
UMNO mudah lupa. BUT we, Malaysian of all races, takkan lupa sejarah.
TO Pak Lah and all the UMNO leaders, now only you all can safe UMNO and this better be fast. Otherwise, UMNO akan dilupakan? (Who Knows?)

Is it true that we reap what we sow?
If it is true, then it is the VOTERS who are responsible for the whole mess the nation is in today.
I couldn't help laughing one morning while in a coffee shop eating my breakfast. There was a group of senior citizens lamenting about the current state of affairs and cursing at Khairy for his anti-Chinese tones. One then commented that if they don't vote for MCA or Gerakan, then Parliament will not have any Chinese MP to take care of their welfare.
Being someone who laughs very loud, I burst out laughing and they were shocked. I was seated at the next table.
I then told them: You fools are the ones responsible for what is happening today. You put them where they are with your votes.
Yes, that's very true. The ones who cast their votes for BN are to be held responsible.
Say hello to IWK. That's where the nation is headed ... sewerage.
