Democracy vs Political Tyranny
Thaksin admirers will be doomed if coup leader, General Sonthi Boonyaratglin, keeps to his words by installing a caretaker PM in two weeks, and returning to constitutional monarchy in one year.
Meanwhile, we should condemn coup d'etat. It's anti-democracy.
As we know it, satellite operations have been siezed and media clampdown has started. I raised this question earlier. SEAPA (Southeast Asia Press Alliance) has issued an alert.
Comments
If the Army is doing it in the name of democracy, why are clamping down medias, ban political gatherings and declare martial law? There is no fighting etc. Why are they witch hunting all Thaksin' s men ? If they are against corruption, they should investigate all and not just Thaksin's men. I think it is more of a political ploy by the Bangkok's elites to kill off Thaksin and his party. He may be a devil but he is also an angel in some ways to the poors. Can our PM and previous PMs and their sons, son in laws and cronies claim any of that in all these years of NEP except sucking the country dry and left the rural and poor Malays in the lurch?

Not all democracies are the same, some are more fair than others. Some represent the peoples' mandate whilst others do not.
We cannot just defend democracies for the sake of defending it.

thaksin sold his shares in shin corp to temasek too soon.(One day after parliament approve a bill exempting such deals from taxation). That means discussion on such a sale was on going for several months before. That means he was putting personal interest before that of nation.
But don't despair. He is a billionaire and cash rich. With that kind of money, don't be surprised if he buys over Liverpool football club and makes it a base for talented Thai football players to play in europe.

Jeff,
I do not know what exactly your stand on this Thailand Military coup issue, but I wish our Malaysian Armed Forces have balls like their Tahi counter part...Just my 2 cents....
