D-Day, September 9

September 9 is about sustenance of legacy.

Today, Dr Mahathir Mohamad will face up with grim realpolitik that his windows of dissent within Umno channels are being shut air-tight.

In Taiwan, thousands will take to the streets in a mass silent sit-out to bring down the lameduck president, Chen Shui-bian.

Thirty years ago on the date, Mao Zedong died, revered as China's revolutionary leader. Today, 30 years on, his legacy is being doubted despite the official admission that Mao was not 100 percent correct.

China has retained tight controls on his memory, but it surely discourages future cults of personality. New China does need Harry Potter.

Let us hope that he gets elected as a national delegate today!

- The truth, whichever side, should be told -

Yes, when Tun M was seeking avenue outside UMNO to talk, the UMNO ppl criticising him saying Tun M should talk on an UMNO platform.

Now, when Tun M want to talk at an UMNO platform, the UMNO ppl try to bar him.

To many contradictory act in UMNO.

Its like When Datuk Hisham try to manage the education system as minster of education and bring back neglected youths to school, the UMNO Youth Non-elected No.2 is glorifying youths of Mat Rempit to race at nite. How to go to school tomorrow morning?.

9th September 2006 is the d day for Dr. M no doubt. Frankly, after observing the way Pak Lah handled the current political issues, particularly the one that concerning KJ, I have great reservation of his ability to control the situation. Yet, i dread to think of the return of Mahathirism. We are in the dilema here. However, i think the right party and the right avenue to decide our future are the voters and the ballot box and not one man and/or his supporters. As such, i sincerely hope that Kubang Pasu UMNO's member will do whatever they can to stop Dr. M, otherwise UMNO and Malaysia will go into another round of unimaginable poltical disaster. Of course, this does not mean whatever issues raised by Dr. M are not important but ultimate the people of Malaysia and not any single person must deliver the final judgment of Pak Lah Administration.

Tun Dr Mahathir was given the pole position in candidacy list, number "1".

There are concerns raised in www.mykmu.net, that the number "1" on a handwritten ballot paper can be changed to another number.... could become 7, 4, 10, ...

The ballot box is said traditionally to be brought into a backroom while waiting for 1-2 hours of closing speech, then only be brought back into the public for counting.

My wonder is, why, in this age of Internet, they did not use the computer to model out ballot paper with checkboxes instead of handwriting.... sigh....

Dr M has every right to offer himself for election as a delegate to the UMNO AGM. And the right to the same chance as any other delegate to speak for the allotted time.

If he seeks to push for the truth, the WHOLE truth, then all power to him!

And for the sake of everyone, not just UMNO members, I hope his memory is not as faulty as it apprently has been lately.

While I do not condone always Dr M's political tactics when he was in power, I fully support the fact of him contesting for the divisional delegate's post so that we can all hear what he has to say. The current govt. seems to be afraid to allow him to speak thus, adds to create the perception that they have something to hide. This should never be the case nor allowed to happen. Importantly, if whatever Govt is in power for the day, and they have been clean and has nothing to hide, let your opposition speak. It will infact strengthen your position as the right choice of the citizens.

It is always healthy that we get to hear an opposition or other politicians speak so that we get to hear BOTH sides of the stories instead of attempting to 'gag' them via a media blackout, or even attempts to place such persons under duress or threats to prevent them saying their piece. The public can then make their own decisions to believe or otherwise. I get worried that without this choice, we are getting only those info that some politicians want us to hear. It becomes too one-sided - not to say the new generation Malaysians can't realize that lopsided info is pushed down our throats.

The present Govt and Barisan Nasional in particularly UMNO, should evolve with the times to not treat Malaysian as people of the pre-Merdeka era by using racial and religion incitements. (I am uncertain whether this political strategy is taught at Oxford's or not...hmmmm must check it out). The majority of us have grown up. The British have left 49 years ago and the Communist has disappeared decades ago, so this racial warcry and nationalistic drum-roll is a passe strategy, highly uncalled for and is dangerous and highly detrimental to our country in the longer run as it will create hatre and suspicion amongst each other. As such, I would implore all Malaysians of today be they Malays, Chinese, Indians and others to make a note of who these people truly are. They are selfish politicians out only for themselves.

For me, I see them as traitors of the nation as they are out only to rally support and political clout for themselves at the expense of the nation. Vote wisely for true leaders and not selfish politicians who want a quick way up the political ladder by inciting racial and religious issues. We all want a healthy, wealthy and harmonious Malaysia. Let's not betray our children and their children of a Malaysia that is rich, peaceful and harmonious. Their future is in your hands.

The verdict was out at 5.08pm, so it will be to political oblivion for Dr M? The playing up of all his fears of being unwanted and allegations that PM Abdullah mistakes are harmful to the country, UMNO and the race have fallen on deaf ears for the majority in Kubang Pasu. Check out details at:

Thanks for the update.

Dr M won't fade away. It would be out of character if he does.

UMNO will have a harder time the more they try to marginalise him. He is one man hard to appease when he is on a scent of some wrongdoing, whether you agree with him or not.

People will still listen to him. And those who are thrown aside by the upstart son in law and by the current crop of the Yes-Men of UMNO and UMNO Youth will have to watch their backs.

The old man has nothing to lose politically and so those greedy and vulnerable vultures in UMNO and UMNO Youth had better watch out.

The old man does not survive the dirty politics of UMNO for 21 years for nothing and his record of political survival is for all to see.. against the popular Tunku, and when the Judiciary made the old UMNO illegal.

UMNO should have learnt that one way of keeping your enemies at bay is to have them in close range. But they chose to keep him out.

Interesting times are ahead!!!

Folks

If you are a bookie, you should call for bets.

Who will win ??

UMNO or Mahathir.

I say, 5 to 1, the old man will crush those insiders in UMNO out to marginalise him.

Good to know that democracy is still alive and kicking in Kubang Pasu.

The rakyat has spoken!

I feel that DR M should learn a lesson from his former deputy,Anwar.

When Anwar was sacked by him,all ministers promptly lined up behind him, what did he think was happening?

Without power,an UMNO leader is a dead duck,he wouldn'[t get any support.

Some insist Dr M is still brilliant and an able strategist,I say he is a senile old man,out of touch with the real world outside.

But that is tnot the sad part, the sad thing is that one potential future UMNO leader is following behind in his foot steps.

PM,do watch up,your son-in-law may not be good for you.

It was a battle lost but not the war.

Folks

Just read the latest posting by Jeff on Dr M's press conference.

The Old Man will not fade away. And I hope he does not fade away for the sake of the country, although I don't particularly agree with all his policies especially his attitude to the Malaysian judiciary. That is history.

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
