ZAM: 'Government must control the Internet'
Does the Minister of Information Zainuddin Maidin (ZAM) read the newspapers?
Fourty-eight hours ago, Deputy Internal Security Minister Fu Ah Kiow denied saying he had wanted the Internet controlled. But that does not stop ZAM from supporting what Fu said he had been misquoted by the mainstream media.
Yesterday, ZAM said the Government must control the Internet and websites to curb the spread of rumours and news that can harm racial unity in the country.
He said the control was not to muzzle press freedom but to stop the spread of news based on rumours, and articles and features with racial undertones. "In one aspect, the control of media content will boost the credibility of a website as the people will know the news published is accurate and no longer based on rumours," he added.
We know the WHAT, i.e. to control the Internet. Now, ZAM has to tell us HOW.
He can start today by learning how to use email by himself.

Hey, Zam was misquoted o.k. Zam is so clever. How can he make suvh a mistake? It is these mainstream media who put words in the mouths of our ministers and deputies. That is why they need to be controlled. The present controls are certainly not working.

ZAM better shut his big mouth.
Any press control wary the investor. Many people didn't notice, investor are very sensitive over information control.
Media control in Singapore is different beast. Since Singapore are showing transparency over government policies, it remove large portion of uncertainty from the investor.
Because Bolehland are lag on the transparency policy, more media control will hurt the investor sentiments. Because information is the most important factor for a investor to judge the risk of the business. By imposing more control, it will make information flow narrow to small group of "interest parties", which will increase the risk in investment.
