Umno Youth's Schindler's List... ( 2 )

July 29, Bernama quoted Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin as saying that the youth wing will release a list of brands and international companies with operations in Malaysia that are known to be supporting the Israeli regime financially.

In view of Khairy's shareholder's status in ECM-Libra Avenue, which is linked to Singapore's Parkway Holdings via its Malaysian subsidiary Pantai Holdings, which in turn are linked to big time Zionist financier Richard Blum in the US, Screenshots yesterday asked if the Umno Youth's 'Schindler's List' is drafted and released, will it backfire big time on the Son-in-Law and the Umnoputras?

Yesterday, the Father-in-Law said such action can backfire on Malaysia. He said those who called for a boycott should think very deeply about it. Quote Bernama:

"We should not talk big and then have to backtrack when our action becomes a burden to us."

Good role play, the in-laws.

There're many ways to show our support for the Lebanese and Palestinian people. That is after we dissect the issues on the table piece by piece and weigh in the circumstances in place before making a national statement on where we stand.

Blindly leaning towards one side because of what had happened many many years ago, or just merely because we worship the same God not only demonstrate what a naive and immature Government we have in place, but will also steadily lead us into the dangerous mindset of promoting anti-Semitism. Or maybe that’s something we won’t mind having? :0)

How different will that get us from voicing our spiritual support for Mr. Osama's crusade against humanity?

WHO IS RUNNING THE COUNTRY?

Syed Hamid: No harm in revealing Israel supporters

PUTRAJAYA: Umno Youth has the right to publicise the list of companies in Malaysia that support Israel if the movement's cause contributes to the struggle in opposing the war by Israel on Lebanon.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said Umno Youth could do “whatever it thought is necessary.”

“I don’t think it is objectionable for it to let the public know. This is Pemuda. It has to do what it thinks is necessary,” he told reporters after receiving a memorandum from Puteri Umno protesting against the Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

Syed Hamid was commenting on the statement by Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin that the wing was compiling a list of companies and business entities operating in Malaysia that supported the Israeli regime financially.

seems to me a classic case of 鬼打鬼(literally meaning hantu bergaduh hantu), as the chinese are always fond of saying. the most pathetic thing about this is that it's all talk and no substance.

nola. AAB and KJ realised that the EC-Libra case has been found out and thus now AAB is coming out to play the good guy and say by pointing out such claims will backfire. SO it is better to let it be. Smart move lo. Try harder la KJ. As always, i urge u to think first.

Pak Lah must put a stop to this kind of witch hunt. As the day goes by, my respect for KJ is getting less as a result of his immature way of handling the issue.

Blacklisting companies with ties to Israel would not help the Lebanon conflict. Just as innocent people are being killed in the war, boycotting of goods and services by such companies that have 'links' to Israel is also prosecuting many innocent Jewish and non-Jewish ppl alike.

KJ's antics of burning US flag & leading a demo whilst his Father In law was warmly greeting Condelezza Rice, is indeed embarassing and uncalled for. KJ is only trying to drum up the emotions of the people and hijack the platform of the media attention that would have otherwise given coverage to PAS style of mob rule.

Why must KJ preach this holier than thou attitude by trying to outwit and outislam the rest? Doesn’t he realise that his very actions would backfire one day?.

Then again, this is Malaysia. If one were to look up the past history of our leaders, they were also once being labeled as radicals, ultras and etc. I guess going against the convention and the norm and being anti establishment is the way to move forward in one's political career.

Though I really dread the possibility of KJ being the a prominent leader of the country, I guess I just have to accept the reality of such odds.

Spot on, Jeff! This is simply a good cop/bad cop routine to demonstrate that AAB somehow has a say or a hold over UMNO Youth. Of course AAB doesn't, but then KJ is going to oblige by saying that the President of UMNO is right, and that UMNO Youth will toe the party line.

Then all the mob behaviour last week would be swept under the carpet. Hypocrites right to the core!

The KJ that we knew before he joined politics was that of a moderate and forward thinking person not the firebrand ultra that he is now. Perhaps becoming no 2 in UMNO Youth required him to be what he is now. Almost all UMNO Youth leaders in the past have shown such traits and later mellow into moderate leaders. I suppose they all have to go thru this sandiwara phase to drum up support for their political cause. All this sandiwara goes to show that KJ will go for the top job in the next party elections.

I really wonder if it is all a matter of Khairy having to do what UMNO Youth leaders seem to have to do. And if urging him to 'think first' will stop his ill-conceived actions and words.

I wonder too what the real Khairy is like - the 'moderate and forward thinking person' of old or the 'firebrand ultra' persona he is displaying now.

What I think is likely is that he IS an intelligent person with loads of ambition of all sorts.

And I will ponder about his actions and words bearing in mind that he is capable of doing and saying much more sensible things.

Which begs the question - Why is he saying and doing what he says and does these days?

Abdullah - Khairy good guy-bad guy act? I don't think so.

Family fued? I don't know. I certainly hope not.

Sandiwara for political ends? Possible!

Another nice show from the in-laws. KJ needs to impress the UMNO Youth that he is a outspoken person while AAB wants o tell the people that he is a serious thinker.

This is not a war in Lebanon la. It is a battle of the in-laws. First Khairy makes a fool of pa-in-law to the extent etiquette and decorum would have demanded pa-in-law to apologise to his guest.

Now pa-in-law tells Khairy (From The Sun) "We should not talk big and then have to backtrack when our action becomes a burden to us".

Does that sound like an exchange between friendlies or two in hostilities?

Observer:

It is obviously two in friendlies, and not in hostilities. It allows KJ a face-saving way out with his UMNO Youth cronies. He'll just say that the President of UMNO has decreed that there will be no boycott, so let's stop the publication of the list of pro-Israeli businesses.

This sandiwara also allows the PM to recoup some lost ground on the issue as to who is actually running the country. Of course we all know that this does not change the equation.

Banning companies linked to Israel is highly welcomed, especially for the ones who openly do so.

Thomas,

Here is a golden question: Do you think that the Jew residing in Israel is as innocent as pictured by some? 90% of them support the aggresion toward Lebanon, and the past. They have openly said in numerous blogs, and blog commentaries that their nation is united whenever the country is at war like what just happened. Go figure their overall mentalities.

Good work Jeff. I only heard of the father-in-law statement through the radio this morning and I was thinking, if this is the case, why don't you just pick up the phone and call your son-in-law? Surely, you don't need to relay your message to your son-in-law through the media right? Exactly as you say, Good role play.

As it is, the number of unemployed graduates are increasing year by year and the government is at a loss of how to rectify the situation. Starbucks are staffed mainly by Malay youths. If KJ actually succeeds in the boycott campaign (which I doubt very much he would), doesn't that mean sending many of these youths into the streets jobless? I, like many others on this blog, wonder whether he had put his brains into gear first before he moved his mouth. This is stupidity personified, to say the least.

AAB has lost control..long ago.

His SIL is running wild..His ministers is something else. Nobody seems to be working for AAB

Does it sound like a jibe at TDM?

It's only lately that he's becoming more vocal. Perhaps party elections are getting nearer and he has to portray some kind of leadership to garner support.
Which do you really believe? The potential job loss of hundreds of Malay youths or his political career?

Well done Jeff...im still wondering how you managed to trace back into such hidden details.

I was just wondering if big brother ever harassed you for creating so much pain in the ass?

I also don't think it's a good/bad guy act. Probably Khairy is upset over something at his in-laws. Being immature, he has humiliated himself instead.

To syedhs,

With regards to banning of Israel linked companies, how do you go about defining one in the first place? Given today's globalised world we live in, every big MNC has dealings with practically every nation in this world apart from having Jews as their main shareholders. Kindly go to the link provided by Jeff Ooi and you would find many of those companies which are renown like Starbucks, IBM etc. So, are you going to stop patronising Starbucks moving forward? Better still, stop using IBM compatible computers and switch I-MAC? How about stop studying Physics altogether as the father of modern physics is Albert Einstein who is of Jewish descent?

May I suggest that ppl like KJ being so righteous to stop watching Steven Spielberg movies too as the producer is a Jew himself. Steven Spielberg empathised with the holocaust that he produced the movie Schindler's List dedicated to the cause.

Not having diplomatic ties and likewise, not supporting trade relations with Israel is justifiable. But trying to ban companies with links to Israel is absurd. Like any other companies, they are in existence out of commercial sense. Put them out of business, thousands or possibly millions of Muslims would be out of job and the war in Lebanon still goes on.

i do believe that KJ and AAB are in cahoots to hoodwink us into believing that AAB is not under KJ's armpits. KJ is not someone i think that would shoot his mouth off. There is more to this than meets the eyes.

syedhs, you can go ahead and ban Starbucks-lah, but what for if that will make our own brothers jobless. Starbucks probably contribute extremely small portion to Israel's economy. I bet the Israeli gov won't feel anything.

Even if you successfully bring Starbucks down (Don't be mistaken that I'm a fan of Starbucks. I don't go to Starbucks anyway), there are many other giants investing in Israel. For example,
microsoft
HP
Oracle
Even ECM Libra is in the list.

These are just a few companies from the US, how about a thousand more from all over the world such as Europe (big investors), India, Singapore, Japan, are you going to ban the world and shuts your own country's economy down?

Banning Israeli products won't solve the conflicts because the banning campaign is not the first time and history has proven that it has no effect on the Israeli gov.

This is just some gimmicks used by certain people to earn PUBLICITY.

We all have brains, lets weigh this thing deeply before we monkey see monkey do.

I dont know what KJ is trying to achieve, probably a stunt.

Thomas, you are quite sensible in this sense. Blacklisting the companies linked with Israel is basically blacklisting 80% of the businesses in the world. It seems to me to blacklist jewish businesses. Even Iran wants to embrace Jewish Nuclear Technology.

Stop with the racial mentality for once. This would be the biggest mistake umno & umno youth will ever make & as usual Malaysians have to pay for it later.

To me, KJ & AAB are trying to prove that KJ is not being protected by AAB, as speculated by general malaysians.

From most comments, they seem convinced that KJ is fighting his in law. It seems to work well doest it?

The best guess is this is just another political stunt. What KJ is doing doesn't help the Lebanon or Palestine cause.

Even in his protest, he is quick to point the finger at the US and Israel while neglecting to mention Hizbollah and Hamas. Anybody that thinks that they can state who is to blame and who is right and who is wrong in just a few sentances doesn't know what they are talking about. That goes for KJ. I sure can't say who is right and who is wrong. I only know who is suffering. And by boycotting companies would only be a burden to the rakyat.

This is not to discount what Israel is doing in Lebanon and Palestine, but the attention given to Israel's actions is disproportionate.

The Sudanese government is committing genocide in Darfur (mass murder, rape, etc.). This is much worse then what Israel is now doing in Lebanon. Yet nobody is suggesting a boycott of Petronas for investing millions of dollars in Sudan and helping to unlock its oil resources (which must be considdered as 'active support' to the Sudanese regime).

It's a blatant and shameful, 'Western-style' double standard.

Having said that, I fully support the idea of an international peace keeping force with significant participation from Muslim countries as well. I think Malaysia's leadership on this issue is commendable. But I wonder how the debate will change when the first Muslim (and possibly Malaysian) peace keeper is killed by a Hizbullah extremist.

Thomas,

Sifting thru the list of companies that support Israel , it is not difficult for me to ban actualy half of them. Please, dont make things more difficult than it requires - if you can avoid the top 5 of the list, that would be fine. Dont get stressed up trying to blacklist all of them that you end up not doing anything. Do it within your capabilities.

However, sorry if this sounds a bit offensive - in the end, it entails to yourself whether you really care about what Israel is doing to others.

If you simply listen to CNN or Fox for 10 minutes, and you think you can give commentaries on Hammas and Israel, you are dead wrong. Please.. for your own sake study the history carefully, how Israel country was formed, how Hezbollah, Hamas were given birth. Do you think people can simply come straight out come from their mother's womb to be a so called terrorist?

While ignoring the recent events that it is Hezbollah who drag Lebanon into war by kidnapping 2 Israel soldiers. And ignoring UN Resolution 1559 which requires Hezbollah to disarmed in 2006. This of course doesn't justify what Israel is doing. Their whole military campaign lacks a goal that is achievable.

An interesting read on Israel. Below is a letter in reply to the French Ambassador in London calling Israel 'a shitty little country' by a Hebrew University Professor.

ISRAEL

"A Shitty Little Country" (quote the French Ambassador)

Here is a capsule of accomplishments you may not be fully aware of. I thought you might find these statistics interesting.

The Middle East has been growing date palms for centuries. The average tree is about 18-20 feet tall and yields about 38 pounds of dates a year. Israeli trees are now yielding 400 pounds/year and are short enough to be harvested from the ground or a short ladder Israel, the 100th smallest country, with less than 1/1000th of the world's population, can lay claim to the following:

The cell phone was developed in Israel by Israelis working in the Israeli branch of Motorola, which has its largest development center in Israel.

Most of the Windows NT and XP operating systems were developed by Microsoft-Israel.

The Pentium MMX Chip technology was designed in Israel at Intel. Both the Pentium-4 microprocessor and the Centrino processor were entirely designed, developed and produced in Israel. The Pentium microprocessor in your computer was most likely made in Israel.

Voice mail technology was developed in Israel. Both Microsoft and Cisco built their only R&D facilities outside the US in Israel.

The technology for the AOL Instant Messenger ICQ was developed in 1996 by four young Israelis.

Israel has the fourth largest air force in the world (after the U. S, Russia and China). In addition to a large variety of other aircraft, Israel's air force has an aerial arsenal of over 250 F-16's, which is the largest fleet of F-16 aircraft outside of the U. S.

According to industry officials, Israel designed the airline industry's most impenetrable flight security. U. S. officials now look to Israel for advice on how to handle airborne security threats.

Israel's $100 billion economy is larger than all of its immediate neighbors combined. Israel has the highest percentage in the world of home computers per capita.

Israel has the highest ratio of university degrees to the population in the world.

Israel produces more scientific papers per capita than any other nation by a large margin - 109 per 10,000 people as well as one of the highest per capita rates of patents filed.

In proportion to its population, Israel has the largest number of startup companies in the world. In absolute terms, Israel has the largest number of startup companies than any other country in the world, except the U.S. (3,500 companies mostly in hi-tech). With more than 3,000 high-tech companies and startups, Israel has the highest concentration of hi-tech companies in the world, apart from the Silicon Valley, U.S.

Israel is ranked #2 in the world for venture capital funds right behind the U. S.

Outside the United States and Canada, Israel has the largest number of NASDAQ listed companies.

Israel has the highest average living standards in the Middle East. The per capita income in 2000 was over $17,500, exceeding that of the UK.

On a per capita basis, Israel has the largest number of biotech startups. Twenty-four per cent of Israel's workforce holds university degrees -- ranking third in the industrialized world, after the United States and Holland - and 12 per cent hold advanced degrees.

Israel is the only liberal democracy in the Middle East. In 1984 and 1991, Israel airlifted a total of 22,000 Ethiopian Jews at risk in Ethiopia, to safety in Israel.

When Golda Meir was elected Prime Minister of Israel in 1969, she became the world's second elected female leader in modern times.

When the U. S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya was bombed in 1998, Israeli rescue teams were on the scene within a day and saved three victims from the rubble.

Israel has the third highest rate of entrepreneurship and the highest rate among women and among people over 55 - in the world. Relative to its population, Israel is the largest immigrant-absorbing nation on earth. Immigrants come in search of democracy, religious freedom, and economic opportunity.

Israel was the first nation in the world to adopt the Kimberly process, an international standard that certifies diamonds as "conflict free."

Israel has the world's second highest per capita of new books.

Israel is the only country in the world that entered the 21st century with a net gain in its number of trees, made more remarkable because this was achieved in an area considered mainly desert.

Israel has more museums per capita than any other country.

Medicine

Israeli scientists developed the first fully computerized, no-radiation, diagnostic instrumentation for breast cancer. An Israeli company developed a computerized system for ensuring proper administration of medications, thus removing human error from medical treatment. Every year in U. S. hospitals 7,000 patients die from treatment mistakes. Israel's Givun Imaging developed the first intestable video camera, so small it fits inside a pill. Used to view the small intestine from the inside, the camera helps doctors diagnose cancer and digestive disorders. Researchers in Israel developed a new device that directly helps the heart pump blood, an innovation with the potential to save lives among those with heart failure. The new device is synchronized with the heart's mechanical operations through a sophisticated system of sensors.

Israel leads the world in the number of scientists and technicians in the workforce, with 145 per 10,000, as opposed to 85 in the U.S., over 70 in Japan, and less than 60 in Germany. With over 25% of its work force employed in technical professions, Israel places first in this category as well.

A new acne treatment developed in Israel, the Clear-Light device, produces a high-intensity, ultraviolet-light-free, narrow-band blue light that causes acne bacteria to self-destruct and all without damaging surrounding skin or tissue.

An Israeli company was the first to develop and install a large-scale solar-powered and fully functional electricity generating plant, in southern California's Mojave desert.

All the above while engaged in regular wars with an implacable enemy that seeks its destruction, and an economy continuously under strain by having to spend more per capita on its own protection than any other country on earth.

AND THE FRENCH AMBASSADOR IN ENGLAND SAYS WE ARE NOTHING BUT A SHITTY LITTLE COUNTRY!!!

Prof. D. Koller

alan,

The information is not really surprising. Israel is indeed full of intelligent people. But this doesn't entitle them to do whatever they want to do - disregarding the others. Talk about a small shitty country who always have problem with the neighbors. Who created the problem in the first place?

Lets be frank. It was the Italians. Damn Italians. If Rome never destroyed the temple, none of this would have happen.

(Yes I'm being sarcastic)

The problem is trying to correct the wrongs that was done, How far does one have to go to correct the errs.

The widespread story of Israel's formation is alot deeper & darker. But the palestenians were not innocent either. What was not told was the plan to eradicate the jews from middle east after the plan to form a jewish country idea was announced in a newspaper in 1898.

Even Hitler has good connections with the militant army in the middle east who had plans to wipe off the jews.

Israel was a wasteland before & the palestanians had a chance to grow with the nation, but under influence, they decided to get rid of the existing jews itself.

So, this is how they react for the sake of survival. Even before Israel was formed, the arabs were terrorizing them. So Hammas, PLO etc are just new names for the same old cause.

I feel very sorry for both Israel & lebanon civilians for the actions of Herzballah.

ps. theres a demostration for ceasefire in london T.Square.

INTERNET does not operate in a legal vacuum.
