1-0 to the residents!
Thanks to Citizen Nades and the Sun =)
Can our very own "R" striker, Nadeswaran, make it 2-0?
Let's cheer on!!!

Kudos to the residents of PJ who took up arms against the MPPJ demanding
accountability and transparency. This is a vindication of their efforts, and hopefully it can be replicated at other municipal councils where corruption and mismanagement is rife. The ultimate step would be to hold elections for council members instead of direct appointments. The rakyat should be given a chance to elect people who are in charge of the cities and towns that they live in. Only then would we be treated as cityzens and not just rate-payers.

This is such a landmark development on so many fronts, that I am proud again to be a Malaysia:
1) Power of the People: we have proven that unity is key in making things happen. Ratepayers and consumers MUST adopt this approach if our rights - protected by the law - are to have any meaning in our lives
2) Power of the Press: this proves that responsible journalism goes somewhere. It also disproves that mainstream media (The Sun, you're UPSTREAM!) is not necessarily a medium of the powers-that-be.
3) Power of the Politicians & Public Servants (PPS): PPS who feel they are untouchable should realise now that they are not safe UNLESS they toe the line. Be in power and use that power to add power to the masses, not to yourself.
BRAVO MALAYSIA! Thank you to The Sun's team.

I don't see how this isolated case can lead to more "transparency" and "accountability". After bolehland abolish the local municipal councils elections, they are concern about profiteering than implement system which will bring benefit to the locals.
The next person that held the position only strengthen my cynical.
The famous China Philosopher Han-fei(BC280-BC233) stated in his "Five pests" : "Nowadays, even a town mayor will not give up his position easily, because gains from the position is many times greater than a king in pre-historical time."

Quote: "Pataling Jaya's first mayor,..."
-> Jeff, wrong spelling Petaling. :D
-> I saw his last salute yesterday evening from my office. They have a small official farewell parade by MBPJ officer in front of the MBPJ Civic Centre.

When will we see the A-khir of the chief [ DELETED ], LOL!

Power of the people? You wish lah.. Sorry for breaking the bad news for you guys, but if Sultan of Selangor didn't make noise in the front pages of The Star (July 3), you think our voices will make a difference?
Some of you guys will argue, our voices reaches Sultan of Selangor. Yes, it certainly did.. But how often will that happen? how long must we wait for it to happen again? why are we so helpless?
This month is our Merdeka month, so in the spirit of the month, lets cheer "Boleh-land" x49

the whole thing is not as shallow as the guys who signed it. it goes much deeper and hopefully someone can unravel the truth. for such a huge sum it can feed tons of ppl and for it to be covered up for so long it goes to show that many ppl are on it.

While the ouster of the PJ mayor is a victory of sorts, the war against the raised rates, transparency in the administration and the widespread corruption remains largely unclear.
Hope PJers can bring the challenge to a new level.
